Everybody needs a little love in their lives... Pru Plum is the celebrated owner of famous Mayfair bakery, Plum's Patisserie. She wears Chanel and her hair is expensively cut. Few would believe that this elegant woman turned sixty-six last year. But Pru is not the confident, successful businesswoman she appears. She has done shameful things to get to where she is today. And she will do anything to protect the secrets of her past - especially when, for the first time in her life, she has finally fallen in love... From bestselling author Amanda Prowse, this is a story about love, loss and lies... and finding happiness before it's too late. Review: Another delightful and wonderful read by Amanda Prowse! - This book should come with a food warning! Trust me, before you start this book, make sure you have plenty of cake or pastries to hand because believe me, you are going to be craving them whilst reading this story. Am sure in some parts I was even drooling! Pru Plum is in her sixties and runs a successful bakery. She lives above the business along with her cousin Milly and niece Bobby. The story starts off quite light hearted of which overall there is a lot of lightness to it but also a lot of heartache. It’s hard not to go through the same emotions as Pru does through the novel as the more I got to know her character, the closer I felt to her. There is an awful lot of mention of food in the book, mainly of the sweet kind. There is even a recipe for one of the items at the end of the book. I won’t tell you which one as it was very much a sweet surprise! Along with delicious sweet treats, the story deals with loss and moving forward. It’s also about coming to terms with things from the past. I loved the relationship especially between Pru and Milly, there is a wonderful bond between the two. A Little Love was a sweet and engaging story where more than a few of the characters captured my heart. It was a book that I didn’t want to end as I could quite happily have carried on sharing the day to day lives with these characters. It wasn’t until I finished the book I realised just how much it had stolen my heart. Another delightful and wonderful read by Amanda Prowse! Review: A Little Love - I enjoyed this book it had a lovely story to it albeit a bit sad too. I liked the characters in this book and it was nice that it involved people of a more mature age falling in love. I like the imagination of acutally losing yourself in the little bakery shop and smell the wonderful cakes that were cooking. It was comforting. I felt some parts a little obscured and thought that wouldn't have happened but nevertheless enjoyable. Light reading not too much to work out you know how it's going to end Happy! Very good I would recommend this to my friends.

A steady gentle read which is perfect for lazy days
This is a gentle read which is written in an uncomplicated style. It wasn't my usual sort of thing but was a nice read and the kind of non taxing book which is perfect for a day on the beach. Smiles all round at the end, and its actually pretty refreshing to read something where the central character is older and has a back story.

Pure decadence
I eagerly awaited this novel and when it arrived, we stayed together for an afternoon and two evenings until I reached the finale. And it was wonderful! This is a beautiful love story with an unconventional protagonist - a woman in her sixties with a slightly colourful past. Hooray for the more mature ladies! What I liked most was that just as I settled in to what seemed a straightforward story at the start, the author took me in an entirely unexpected direction with twists aplenty - the kind that make you have to keep turning pages and find out where it will all lead. All the ingredients of a great book. This is lovely and yes, there is lots of cake and I tasted all of them! I agree with a previous reviewer, this also reminded me of Joanne Harris's Chocolat and I felt in the writing there were shades of the wonderful foodie elements in Eat Pray Love. I love cake and I like a bit of romantic escapism so this was pure decadence - an indulgence for me. Time to myself, feet up, immersing myself in a gorgeous, love story from a wonderful story teller. A real treat. I was immersed - mystery, smooching, a happy ever after and CAKE. CAKE!!! Gorgeous literary escapism. Do it!! When does the film come out?

Easy reading and a good story.
I like the style of Amanda Prowse's writing and the book kept me interested throughout. The description of heart warming, which has been used to describe it, is very accurate and the book has plenty of feel good factor. Just what we all need at the moment!!!!

awesome read is A Little Love
Mrs Amanda Prowse a fantastic novel writer, every one of her books and short stories is just what every reader needs, in all her stories the reader becomes hopelessly involved in everything that's going on in the confines of the story, and A LITTLE LOVE is no exception in wanting to take part in the tasting of the cakes that Pru Plum bakes in her posh shop, and with tummy rumbling at the description of the surrounding establishment having so many desirable aromas traveling through the premises it makes one desire more and more of the story and not wanting to put it down....well done again Amanda Prowse its a cracker and 'OI'LL Give it Five' stars superb story! Also thank you Pru Plum for the recipe for gingerbread man & woman now we can taste your some of your exciting goodies :)

Beautiful story
This was the first book of Amanda Prowse's that I bought and read, back in 2014 and have just discovered I was not doing book reviews back then, so thought I would put things right and write one. The characters in this book are so true to life, surely everyone has shameful secrets from their past like Pru Plum, and want to protect them at all costs. Her outward facade is of a woman who has it all, is beautiful, elegant and successful, but at what price? Along the way she has missed out on love. I love the descriptions of all the different cakes and pastries that Plum Patisserie sells and would love to visit one day, but I guess it only exists in Amanda Prowse's imagination, which is a shame. Great book, and looking forward to reading the rest of the No Greater Love series of books.

A beautiful story about a woman who seems to have it all
Pru Plum, the co-owner of Plum’s Patisserie, is different than most of the main characters in the chic-lit genre - she's an incredibly elegant sixty-six year old lady. Pru and her cousin Milly (one year younger than Pru) grew up in extreme poverty but together they made their dreams of owning a Patisserie a reality and have had great financial wealth in their adulthood. Their age added a nice dimension to the story and it wouldn’t have worked if she’d been younger because she wouldn’t have lived the interesting life that she’s led. She's living together with her cousin Milly and niece Bobby. Together they're forming an unusual, but very happy family. Bobby is engaged and she's planning the wedding of her life. Pru hasn't been lucky enough to find such a great love yet, but when she meets Christopher she's falling for him head over heels. Unfortunately tragedy strikes and there's a risk Pru will lose everything she has worked so hard for. A Little Love is a story about learning to overcome difficult situations and ultimately allowing yourself to be happy. You must get past any lingering regret from decisions that were made in the past. Sometimes people are put in terrible situations that make them feel like it’s the only way to survive, no matter how terrible of a thing they feel they must do. A Little Love is a beautiful story about a woman who seems to have it all. There are also secrets that she wants to hide at all costs. I was very curious to find out what Pru was hiding. She's a remarkable main character. I loved the relationship between Pru and Milly. The story and its main characters are definitely remarkable and it managed to keep me interested from beginning to end. The novel started off a bit slow, but the reading was enjoyable and kept me guessing. With small hints given throughout the first three quarters of the novel, I was eager to know what Pru’s deep dark secret was. The last bit of the book you’re left rooting for her to overcome her past and hoping that she gets the happily ever after that she truly deserves. A solid 4.5 Stars
