Does not work on 2007 Dodge Diesels
I just purchased a new Nemisys Scan tool and I noticed it would not read the datastream from my 2007 Dodge 3500 5.9L Diesel.Contacted OTC Tech support and talked to Ken. He informed me that there is a problem reading data on the 2007 Dodge 5.9L Diesel.I specifically purchase the scan tool to read all data on this vehicle because it has CAN bus and I need to read the data stream and body and chassis codes. Before I purchased this unit, I contacted OTC tech support and they assured me that there would not be a problem with this scan tool reading data on this vehicle.Apparently he was wrong and I'm out +$650 for the tool. The OTC tech adviser had no release date or estimate as to when this problem will be corrected.I find that inexcusable since this vehicle and engine has been out of production for 5 years.Update 7/26/12After a few days of calling and a desperate call to OTC Human Resources I was put in touch with a Tech Advisor by the name of Calvin that was directed by his manager to help me.I just recieved a memory card to supplement my 2007 Dodge Diesel. I am happy with the resolution but unhappy with all the effort it took.Software should be updated by Jan 2013 hopefully.Calvin was very helpful but I can't say the same for the techs on the help line.I had good luck with OTC in the Past.

Great scan tool for the money
This is Jeff. I purchased the Nemisys 3822 for more advanced diag on vehicles. I am a Master Certified Technician and work on vehicles on the side. I needed a scan tool that can see multiple PIDS (Sensor Data). The cheap ones just do not have what I need. Here is some of the meat and potatoes of the unit. The 3822 is the same as the 3821 just less the OBD 1 connectors. The 3822 has OBD 1 software you just need to buy the cables. The unit came with 2013 software and I was given the free upgrade online to 2014 software. I have been able to read ABS/SRS/TRANS/ECM/BCM data. The scan tool uses the same software as the larger Genesys, however, less the actuation and programming capabilities. This unit does live graphing (Great for 02 sensor). The screen is clear and adequate (Not high def). The unit feels sturdy and uses batteries to power up. It comes with the batteries (AA batteries). The Cable is around 3’ long. The case has a fold out arm to hold it up (I do not use it). There are no annual subscriptions for the software and the unit does have free updates for the current software, however, when you want to upgrade to the new year coverage then there is a charge. 2014 is the latest and that is upgraded for free when you buy the unit. The unit does have code assistance to give you advice on common repairs. It froze a bit when being first used, but with use it quickly learned and now I do not have freezing issues. The processor is slower than some. Loading is not super-fast, however, it is plenty fast for what is needed. This unit is well worth the money. The software can see so many sensors. I give it a five star rating because this unit has been a valuable asset to my diag tools. You may still want to buy a cheap scan tool to keep in the car for the quick checks.

it's updated to 2013
First off, it's updated to 2013, so that's a big plus. Second, the pamphlet inside is outdated so you'll need to use Google to find the registration web site, to make the tool functional. I haven't used it on many cars yet, but is has a custom data list option, and you can change each parameter from digital to graph while that list is open, which is really nice. The main reason I bought it is to record a test drive, and it's far easier to use than a MODIS for just that, but note...it only records for about five or ten seconds...not forever. And you have to "exit" many many steps to Playback the recording. Supposedly it has "limited" bi-directional controls but I haven't seen any yet. I haven't tried to install the included Windows software....installing anything on Windows frightens me. As of May 2015, I have learned that if I leave it ON and connected to a vehicle for too long it gets hot and locks-up and ceases to function. It always works again the next day, but I am getting tired of trying to remember to shut it off every time I walk away.

Does what I need it to.
This tool is nothing fancy really, but it does what I need it to. It has great coverage for domestic and Asian vehicles and will read and clear codes and show/graph live data for the many different modules (as opposed to ECM only as with Generic OBD2 tools) such as ABS, airbag, TPMS, BCM, TCM, etc. The only thing that it really lacks that I wish it had was more solenoid control capabilities.
