PERFECT TO CHAR CLOTH or to use as Altoid size tins for purse, travel bag, bug out
Wanted to wait to write my review till after I tried them in the fire to make Char Cloth. These held up well through the first firing. Can't speak to later on, but there doesn't seem to be any issues and I plan to char more cloth in them. I tried charring the cloth two ways -- 1) WITH putting a small (very small) hole on top with the very tip of a steak knife, and 2) without a hole on top, trying to rely on the hinges to provide just enough air to char. WITH the hole on top is DEFINITELY better. They almost didn't char at all over 20 mins with no hole punched in top. Also -- I tried them with holes then another two ways 1) with ONLY about 6-8 pieces of 100% cotton Tshirt (cut to size of ID of tin) and 2) filling the tin with the pieces of cut-up cotton. With 6 - 8 pieces inside the tin, they charred beautifully on a Gas BBQ with the lid CLOSED in about 15 minutes. Using same technique but with MORE pieces inside, they didn't char at all even after 30. Both of these cans can small holes I punctured in the top. The second one was just too full. The fabric got slightly brown, but didn't char. I'll stick with 8 pieces and try 1 more, one at a time to fit the perfect amount to char in 20mins. They are the size of Altoids cans. I like the fact they are plain, without a coat of labeling ink. These FIT THE BILL for me. They would also work well as small packets inside my purse, bug out bag or travel bag as the lid is tight enough to hold in place but still easy enough to open.

Good EDC Tin
So I got these as a special item for my son and I. We saw a video on how to make little fire starter kits out of cardboard and melted candle wax. We thought it would be cool to do this and have a place to store them. These little tins were perfect for the size. Locks down well. No smell. No dents or scratches. Even, consistent finish. We got a multi-pack to make a few and gave the as gifts for the men in our family.

Perfect size for Alana Fairchild pocket decks
I researched dimensions for a tin to carry Alana Fairchild pocket decks. This tin is perfect. It has a hinged lid with a ridge so it stays closed. Its sturdy enough but arrived already dented a little. It fits the pocket decks perfectly. It also fits US games miniature decks like Deviant Moon and the Lo Scaradeo mini decks like Murder of Crows. My only complaint is that the hinges aren't the best and sometimes arrive bent outward so the lid partially falls off but I've been able to bend them back each time. After that, so far, the lids hinges stay.

Really good for crafts
I use these tins for a trinket box gift that I crafted. It is the perfect size as an altoid mint can. Some of the hinges were flimsy and I had to use pliers to tighten them but besides that I was able to decorate them and it made an amazing gift

Very Happy with the purchase.
I bought these tins to use for flint and steel fire making kits and survival kits. A steel flint striker, flint and charcloth fit nicely in the tin. The lid has a small hole in it now, so the tin can be placed in a fire to make char cloth. Would love to have a tin like this which is even heavier material. They seem quite adequate for what I have in mind, and plan to purchase a few more. Good price and great delivery.

A Lot of Thin, Flimsy Tins. Some with Dents.
These tins are pretty thin and flimsy. They could be easily crushed, like an aluminum soda can. Some of them arrived with dents. They were packaged in an unpadded manilla envelope, so it doesn't surprise me. The damage was likely due to an Amazon shipping and handling issue. If I were to use these for packaging items for gifts or for resale, I would be very disappointed and I would return them. However, I only plan to use these tins for my own purposes to temporarily hold things like match sticks, paper clips, fishing hooks, sewing needles, thumb tacks, and chewing gum. Overall, it was an OK price price for a lot of small tins. However, these are not durable and won't last long. They probably won't hold up under any kind of abuse, such as with banging around inside a backpack or with hurriedly fumbling around in a fishing tackle box, but they will serve their purpose in the short term, if treated gently. If you need to store something where the tins would bang against other gear or fumble around inside a junk drawer, then it is probably best to look elsewhere for something more substantial. You would probably have better luck with reusing an Altoids mint tin. These tins are flimsier than that and seem more appropriate for holding something very temporary, such as a gift card or a small gift box for little candies. They don't seem much good for any other purpose. I wish that the item description more accurately portrayed this; but, I suppose, you get for what you paid.

Perfect for my needs!
I actually bought these to make Die Hard Christmas ornaments. Being hinged the way they are it was easy to separate the two halves and use the deeper side for the ornaments. I think they worked out pretty darn good!

Well made
They're really a little too small for what I wanted to use them for but that's on me. I will definitely have uses for them in other ways. They are very well made lightweight, easy to open.
