Tools works like it should I had just bought the house and wanted to remove a plug that was on the floor Going from carpet to hardwood and didn't want to shut off all the breakers to do this It only took a minute or so to find the breaker that I needed

Fairly easy to use, plug in the transmitter in the test socket and move the detector over the breakers along a line down the breaker array on the side closest to the panel box wall and not near the panel center line . instructions say to turn the sensitivity all the way down eliminate cross-talk issue but I found a midpoint setting worked better. I would typically start at full sensitivity, sweep the panel to ensure it saw a signal, then step down the sensitivity until only one breaker trigger a response. Note I generally could not distinguish between the a/b breakers in a double gang setup. I did have one issue; the transmitter makes an assessment of the socket and can identify problems with the wiring. This worked initially, but after testing several sockets it consistently indicated an unconnected ground even on circuits it initially said were ok. I verified a good ground with multimeter so bad transmitter. I returned the unit and amazon promptly replaced it . haven't had any issues since then.

I bought a cabin which had a bunch of bad GFCI's and a few wiring problems. I used this to test them and to find the correct circuit breaker to turn off when I replaced the bad GFCI's and while repairing wiring. I have two breaker boxes, with the finder it was easy to locate the correct one. Finding the correct breaker was a little harder, you have to adjust the sensitivity lower until just one breaker causes it to beep. On max sensitivity multiple breakers will beep. Once I turned off the breaker, I verified that the outlet tester showed the power was off- the green LED's were off. The outlet tester is easy to use, just plug it in and the LED's tell you if it's wired correctly.

Although it's not as good as the more costly versions you see. It does it's job. The plug/outlet reader itself is worth the money. The sensor... tho a bit tricky to get the right sensitivity initially... is a great addition to a basic homeowner tool box. It is effective... once you get the hang of it. I'd recommend practicing on a known path/circuit breaker line so you are able to get the setup dialed in, before you trust it's information. I also found out was more accurate if you slowly scan the center side of the breaker line, as it has difficulty differentiating the true line source on the outer edge... especially if you have a box that is heavily wire. It was much more accurate on my new house, well sorted breaker boxes than it was build than on my parents older some what densely breaker box. NOTE* in any power situation always use patience, persistence and triple check for live/hot response either with a non contact line reader or voltmeter with the outlet or line you are dealing with!

The wiring in my house is crazy. One room in my house is supplied by three different circuit breakers and the only way I would have ever figured that out is using this tool. With this tool, I was able to simply & quickly identify every receptacle that is controlled by each breaker. Just plug-in the transmitter, & take the sensor probe to your circuit breaker box & touch it to the front of each breaker to instantly find the correct one, the one that beeps. It is very sensitive, so it might beep on more than one breaker, but whichever one beeps the strongest is the one that’s correct. It seems to be made of high-quality and strong materials, and gives you instant readings to determine which circuit breaker is connected to a given wall outlet or light socket.

I bought this a few months ago , expecting I would find it useful at some point. Well, today was that day. I had to figure out what breaker controlled a specific outlet. I followed the directions, plugged the receiver in and went to the box. Well, it buzzed on several breakers that worker associated with the one I was looking for, and didn’t buzz on the right one. It was totally useless, except for the receiver. I had to have my son watch the light on that while I turned breakers on and off until we found the right one. I wish I had tried it right away because I could have returned it for one that worked. I feel like I wasted my money since the return period is over. If you are looking at this one, consider buying another.
