I purchased this book for use during the pandemic. My 5th grader didn't go back to school after spring break - it was so late in the school year I didn't want to get a 5th grade book so I went ahead and moved forward to 6th grade thinking there would be some overlap and there was a little bit. He used this book from March to August (I went ahead and had him study during the summer while he was at home also). He started 6th grade in September and this really helped him already be prepared. The directions on each lesson are great. I liked how the lessons are set up. I would def recommend this product - either to supplement learning - or to get during the summer to prepare for the upcoming year. 11 year old got alot out of it. I purchased multiple books from this brand to supplement the learning.

Essential and Engaging: Spectrum Language Arts Book Review for Sixth Grade
I was really excited about the Spectrum Language Arts book for grade 6 because computers are just the way of the world these days, and we often forget about proper grammar, sentence structure, and capitalization. This book does such a great job of outlining how to properly use grammar, sentences, capitalization, punctuation, and vocabulary. As a special ed teacher, these areas—capitalization, punctuation, and sentence structure—are usually a challenge for many of our kids, so this book will come in handy going forward. I will also be using it this summer to help our kids with capitalization and punctuation, and I look forward to utilizing its pages. I also really love how it includes video tutorials. I think I might go back a few grade levels to help some of our kids who are not quite on grade level to bridge that gap, but I definitely love the structure of these books. They are a definite asset in a classroom.

We have always loved this curriculum for the sentence structure part of English. My kids are all well-rounded writers and I believe this book contributes to their ability to structure sentences well.
