Grain Free! Lots of omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidant-rich vegetables and probiotics!
Packaging: Dr. Gary’s Best Breed Grain Free Salmon w/Fruits & Vegetables came in a corrugated shipping box that when opened contained a colorful plastic or vinyl bag of dog food with a zip style resealable closure on top of the bag.Details: Dr. Gary’s Best Breed grain-free Salmon with Fruits and Vegetables dry dog food is a dry small nugget-style food with nuggets about a quarter of an inch in diameter. I opened the bag of Dr. Gary’s Salmon with fruits and vegetables and the smell was not off-putting like you find with some brands and even better, yet our finicky little guy loved it. We worried the first few days knowing how when we switched feeds on our guy before he didn’t tolerate the food and got sick either not being able to keep it down or needing to go out in a rush but no problems at all with Dr, Gary’s. It is a slow-cooked honest feed that as Dr. Gary’s lists is a holistic blend of Salmon with lots of omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidant-rich vegetables, and probiotics for proper digestion. Enriched with taurine. Formulated for all sizes and life stages (puppy through senior). I will be getting this again and yes; I am recommending Dr. Gary’s Best Breed, Grain-Free Salmon, with fruits and vegetables dry dog food.Pros:My finicky guy LOVED it!100% Satisfaction GuaranteePerfect size for toy and small breedsLots of omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidant-rich vegetables, and probiotics for proper digestionCons:I did not have anything that stuck out as a negativeMarked as: Made in USAFull Disclosure: Please know that I received Dr. Gary’s Best Breed Grain Free Salmon w/Fruits & Vegetables Made in USA [Natural Dry Dog Food For All Breeds and Sizes] as a no-cost evaluation sample and as my name indicates I provide only my honest and unbiased opinion.

Good Quality Kibble. Split Decision. One Dog Liked It. One Dog Did Not.
I have two dogs and one has historically not been a fan of fish based dog food. This is still the case for this brands' salmon based kibble. At first she would reluctantly ate it but after a while would let it sit. I ended up having to mix in some other foods to get her to eat it. My other less picky dog ate it without any encouragement. This is grain free and uses different legumes to make protein. I stopped feeding my two dogs grain free food a while ago when it was being reported some dogs were having health problems after going to grain free diets. Everything I read seems to at least mention the possibility of the big increase in legumes being a potential problem. I have yet to see anything definitive. My dogs had done fine with non-grain free foods before so I have switched back to it. I mixed this grain free kibble with this companies Best Breed Salmon w/ Fruits & Vegetables kibble. The smallish kibble does well for my ~40lbs dogs. The food definitely looks to be of high quality and not crumbly or powdery like some other brands. The kibble looks shiny or oily which seems like a good thing to me. Dogs are doing well with the food. I went to the companies website and I was impressed that they talk about all the aspects of the food and explains why they chose certain ingredients, size of the kibble, packaging, etc.

The first brand of salmon my dogs will eat
I wasn't sure how well my dog would do with salmon as I have tried other brands that are salmon that he would not touch, at all. Well this literally came in the mail half an hour ago and my dog was all over the unopened box. HE knew what was inside!! So, I just filled the bowl and he went right for it. The odor, for me, is not overwhelming or offensive. I thought it would being it was salmon, but I have no objection to this food and neither does my dog. I had tried 2 different brands of salmon a few years ago and I ended up throwing them both away because they would not even taste it. This is already an improvement!I have 2 dogs that have been having reactions to food. One has dripping eyes and licks his legs, the other has been scratching non stop with his hair falling out terribly. They seemed to be doing well with cricket, but it is extremely expensive. As I have read, salmon may be a better protein source if you hare having these types of allergic reactions. I will say that if you are tying to figure this out yourself, I am glad to see that it does come in a small bag allowing you to try it without investing in a 30lb bag.... so this is at least worth a try to see if they will even eat it at all. That is the first step. The kibble is small enough that any size dog could eat this. I will give this time to see if there is a flare up or reaction with this food for my dogs and will update this either way.I also think that if my dogs did or didn't have a reaction to this particular food, that does not make it a "bad" or deserving of a 1 star rating. I see nothing in here that I would hesitate giving my dogs as I am not completely sure what is causing their reaction. I think it may be chicken, so I will steer clear from that and hope for the best for now. I just hope that I can find something quickly that is affordable and helps both the dogs. I will update in about a month.
