Mother Earth Products Instant Classic Hummus

This hummus is a must for the pantry. It makes at least 4 good size portions of hummus and it's so easy & yummy. I keep a bag in my knapsack with a collapsible bowl (fr Amazon 😊) and i never go hungry. just add water ( can add add'l ingredients too).

I should’ve listened to all the other reviews. At first, it has a taste of lemon, and then it becomes insanely garlic-y to where it burns your tongue and throat. We were going to take this backpacking, but we are switching to another brand.

Great taste and excellent value! Easy to prepare perfect to take with you anywhere. Always fresh! I have purchased this 3 times now. Makes 4 8oz. servings but you can make any amount you want and I like that. It's way cheaper than the prepared humus and you just ad oil and water.

UPDATE: After trying the Roasted Red Pepper flavor and finding it too salty, I just can't advocate for this product. There's not an edible flavor in their line of products. Jalapeño is too spicy. Roasted Red Pepper is too salty. And Original is too garlicky. I suppose one could say that Mother Earth Products makes a flavor-packed Instant Hummus, but it's too intense for a food product. I'd like to enjoy my food, not figure out how to make it palatable. ORIGINAL REVIEW: As another reviewer posted, the flavor is 100% raw garlic, complete with the inherent spiciness that makes my nose drip. I added tahini paste to mine, and while those bites are a bit better, it's difficult to blend it when I'm relying on a powdered mix to be easy to prepare without kitchen equipment. If this was a side on a mezze platter, it might work better. But if you're like me, and you're looking for protein-packed main dishes to enjoy with vegetables, you're going to have to prepare for the raw garlic attack. The taste sticks around in my mouth for a while. I suppose I have to be grateful for the benefits of garlic, but man oh man! Still, I like it. I'd buy it again, and I'm waiting on the Roasted Red Belly Pepper flavor to see if it's any better. The reviews on the Jalapeño one are scary enough to prevent me from trying it for fear that it would truly cause me pain. I too hope that the company reads this review. If they're using raw garlic, maybe they could try cooking it down to remove the edge that it has. Or just use far less. I'm surprised for the third ingredient in the list how overpowering it is. It's really difficult to eat more than a couple bites without seeking a piece of naan to quell my burning tongue. I'd much prefer to enjoy the hummus with raw veggies than stuff my face with bread just tolerate it.

Why does it burn? Possibly the intense garlic/lemon??? ...super glad to read it wasn't just me. All in all good, excluding the super intense flavoring. Will do it with rice, but as hummus by itself, this is not.

WOW! This is delicious. This in not your grocery store hummus. Bought it to experiment with for backpacking but I think it will also be our go to hummus at home from now on to. It is very garlic forward with an extra kick from cumin but we love lots of flavor so it's great for our family. Love that it's shelf stable and can be waiting in the wings whenever a hummus craving rears it head (which is often). It is also priced comparable to our local grocery store versions. We let it rest in the fridge and it thickened up quite a bit. It isn't completely smooth but the texture is fine.

I rarely leave reviews, but this was so bad I had to warn people. The moment I tasted it, I knew it was a mistake. It had almost no hummus flavor at all because the garlic was completely overpowering. It tasted like chewing handfuls of raw garlic. Absolutely disgusting. I threw the whole thing straight into the garbage. Total waste of money, and I’m honestly infuriated I bought it.

Not homemade fresh ingredients great but good for add water and oil quick snack. Tweaks could make it better with your own touch I'm sure.
