Easy set up, very flexible configuration, great for my well heat lamp
I needed to put a ceramic heat lamp in my well to keep it from freezing when the temps dropped into teens and single digits. The simplest solution to provide power to that lamp during the few months of the year when it's needed was to run a heavy-duty outdoor extension cord from a GFI outlet on my covered porch to the lamp. The thing is, it only needed to run during the night--temps got up enough during the day that it didn't have to be on.The TP-Link Tapo P400 was the perfect match for what I needed. The Tapo plug is very sturdy, very well-built with good covers over the outlets. It's IP65 rated, so it's good for outdoor use--but you don't want to leave it fully out in the rain on or the ground. It has 2 outlets, each of which has its own manual on/off switch and each of which can be configured using the Tapo app (more on that below). It's also capable of handling a nice load -- 1800W / 15A / 1/2hp motor.Setup using TP-Link's Tapo app was quick and simple. Just install the Tapo app, plug in the outlet, and follow the prompts. You can set up a schedule with multiple turn on/off events at specific times on specific days--I can see how that can be useful for a variety of situations. The fact that the plug has 2 outlets which can be scheduled independently makes that even more useful. One thing that's especially nice for my specific situation is that you can set on/off events based on the sunset and sunrise. For example, if I know it won't be cold enough to need the lamp until at least an hour after sunset, I can tell it to turn on an hour after sunset...and the Tapo app will use my location to adjust the time accordingly. Same for sunrise. You can tune that to a very fine degree--a number of hours and minutes before or after either sunrise or sunset. That would also be a great thing to have if you wanted to turn lights on and off. Another thing that's useful is that I can connect the unit to the TP-Link remote server so that I can turn the outlets on and off when I'm away from home.I'm very pleased with this, exactly what I needed!

Dual outlet control compatible with Apple HomeKit
Super easy connection with router and Apple HomeKit. Able to control both plugs separately. HomeKit allows for setting up scenes which we use for outdoor lighting etc. excellent quality.

Exceptional connectivity
This smart plug replaces a Ring Outdoor Smart Plug that would not pair at the location I needed it. The Tapo plug has worked fine and reliably at the same location for the past 5 weeks. Setup was very straightforward and even works well with Alexa. I like the Tapo app and am happy that my Kasa bulb can also be controlled with the Tapo app. Why did you pick this product vs others?:I’ve been pleased with other TP-Link products that I own. Wifi connectivity:Excellent!

Great plug, very VERY short plug
The plug paired instantly and has been working well. It feels solid and well made. However, the plastic covers that cocer the outlets are flimsy and just barely seat in the outlet. It's been very reliable though and feels very sturdy. The cord that plugs into the wall is extremely short as well, it hangs off and outlet and only gices you about 6" to work with, so you will always need an extension cord. These things aside: the build os good, the reliability seems good so far and the cord from the outlet, although short, is very thick and feels to be good, high quality.

Perfect, works outside, I use it on my water fountain, one side turns on and off the waterfall and the other turns on and off lights.

Quality, Reliability, Tapo/Tplink
Like every other tapo/tp link smart home product, the quality, reaction time, and reliability has not been beat by any other competition product.Works great for setting up Christmas/holiday lights while also keeping a back patio light routine year round.

If you can't seamlessly integrate with Alexa, You. Are. Out!
Installing it with TPlink app was extremely lengthy and over the top complicated(you have to install the outlet through TPlink before you could use it with Alexa). You have to pick the product list off a long list and then find the product code. App then searches for the outlet for like 6 billion years. After installing, I had to go to Alexa and install it there. After some time of it working, it just disappears from Alexa's list of plugs. Uh, no, I bought this product because of Alexa and not because it's TPLink. So yeah, packed and returning this useless gadget ASAP!
