Exactly What I Wanted to Use with Filters
I bought this because I wanted to start using paper filters and needed a basket with straight sides. This basket is working great. It just BARELY squeezed into my naked portafilter, which I believe is a standard Rancilio size (the machine is a Profitec Pro800). Iโm glad I donโt have to remove it often. Iโm pulling great shots and I really like using filters. I have adapted to having to knock out the spent puck. With my tapered basket I could shake it out. The straight sides of this basket require a bit more violence to dislodge the puck but Iโm keeping it.

Absolute must upgrade for KitchenAid Semi-Automatic KES6403 line of espresso machines!
If you own a KitchenAid KES640X line of espresso machines then this is a must upgrade. I've owned the espresso machine for a good year and a half now and have always struggled to pull a decent shot of espresso that is consistent with the provided single wall double shot basket. Being new to the espresso scene (i actually make cappuccino out of the shot so...dont judge) watching videos and trying to figure out the right way to grind, tamper and pull the shot has been an interesting adventure which prompted me to put a hole through the included portafilter (the included plastic flow mechanism is definitely a design flaw that traps good crema in its crevices) which then allowed me to view & troubleshoot the flow of the espresso up-close. The constant sputtering and sprays after trying out various grind sizes, grounds & measuring the espresso yield i've concluded that my fate is sealed with the entry level espresso machine until i came across this basket filter on sale.. Look and behold! A simple basket replacement, 18 grams of medium roasted grounds, exact same brew parameters yielded consistent amounts of espresso (about 65ml). Where it used to sputter and spray consistently now it sputters a lot less (my tamper skill sucks) and barely sprays! Flavor is much more consistent and the appearance of a nice layer of crema became a standard. Trying new beans have been more rewarding now that i can dial into the new grinds a lot easier! I do wonder what and how the "Butterfly Effect" compares to the "Deep Extraction" basket that they have on sale but that is a story for a different time. Overall the build quality is excellent as it fits snugly onto the original portafilter (a bit stiff but works fine for me). It looks like a thin layer of fine filter is fitted onto the rougher filter at the bottom but the thickness of the bottom layer feels like it will hold just fine. This is compared to the original provided basket which has started to buck from the tampering. Original basket weight : 28 grams Original basket mesh diameter : 30mm (about) MHW-3BOMBER basket : 45 grams <--- big difference in build quality. MHW-3BOMBER basket diameter : 50mm (about) <--- Chuck the provided baskets and get them after market solutions. No regrets.

Great Choice!
This was surprisingly a great basket! So much better than the ones that came with my machine. Fits perfectly - Cleans up easily - Very well made - Thick and Secures nicely in Portafilter handle - Puck comes out without much effort - Functions very nicely - Pips in and out making removal so easy - Worth every dollar spent

Well made
This is very well made. The water flow is fantastic but you may have to go a bit finer on the grind. This is way better than the stock basket with Gaggia. The taste was way better too. Cleaning is not to bad. The design is good to. It work good with my Gaggia EVO but you cannot turn the portafilter all the way.

MHW-3Bomber 58mm 18g basket
This is a well designed basket and is ver3.0. It has extra heft vs other baskets. The pic on Amazon shows 18g etched on the inside. However, it isn't. The v3.0 of the 15g basket as shown in my pic is displayed (15g). I'm still giving 5 stars for quality๐ณ.

Best of my 4 baskets
I almost didnโt buy this because I have a couple more expensive baskets, but Iโm glad I did. This is the best of the 4 baskets that I own. It has great rigidity and doesnโt bow in the middle during a shot like many thinner baskets do. Because of this, though, you will need to make sure your WDT and tamping is on point to avoid channeling. This basket will make you pay for your mistakes. The fine holes on the inside of the basket prevent coffee grounds from seeping through, so you probably wonโt need paper filters. Also, the holes donโt seem to get clogged with coffee grounds like some other baskets. The basket snaps in well and holds in place well. The only issue Iโm having is that the lip may be slightly larger or smaller (a fraction of a mm) so I need to twist in the portafilter with a lot of force to prevent it falling out during a shot. This issue may be due to the portafilter, though - Iโm not sure. The last thing Iโll say is that this 22g basket can do a full 22g shot, which is nice because some baskets can hold a gram or two less than advertised. I think Iโll buy the 18g version of this basket, too, for smaller coffees.

A worthwhile purchase
This filter fits my porta filter perfectly. It appears to be well made and serves my intended purpose. I recently purchased a Breville Oracle jet. The problem I had with it is that it 22 grams or more for each coffee. I was used to making my coffee with 16 grams. Use of this 15 gram filter allowed me to reduce the coffee usage down to 17 grams which now makes great coffee

Marketing and aesthetics versus performance (mediocre to poor on this)
This is way over rated simply due to the marketing and the word bomber--the kids love chasing this brand. As for making Espresso---this basket runs fast, It doesn't fit well in an E61 (58mm) group head portafilter (all my other baskets fit snug, the portafilter moves to center.. Pass on this if you're someone that already knows Espresso and thought there was a bargain out there-this isn't it. You'll say all sorts of things to justify your purchase but if you've used other quality baskets this isn't the horse ro back at all. Sure it looks all "head shop" cool, bomber, wings aviation but that has little to do with good espresso-it simply won't do anything special to your Espresso-quite the opposite--really messes with your pull times.
