This syrup is so horrible, I can’t believe I didn’t read the reviews. It is straight up cough syrup with nothing like real Ube flavoring. They should be banned from making such a horrible product. Monin…what have you done???

Ube, if you've had actual ube in the Philippines, had a subtly sweet and earthy flavor. There honestly is not much flavor, so dessert recipes will amp up sweeteners and savory recipes will have other flavorful things. This syrup is geared toward drinks and confections, so it's sweetened, but it has additional flavorings of primarily vanilla but also fig and more to make it a bit more complex. And the color. The vibrant purple color. In the Philippines, ube ice cream has coloring added. Everything has to be amped up in the marketing age. But I digress.If you're familiar with ube you may find this puzzling but still usable if you work with it. If you're not familiar with ube then you have no reference point and it's a solid mixer to wow people with.

High sugar content but I only use 2oz for a 24oz cocktail. Flavor is great!

Taste was not so good, but that is a matter of preference.

I should’ve listened to the reviews or taken note of the weak overall star rating. When the syrup came, I immediately gave it a quick taste. Generally not bad. Tastes a bit like cough syrup, but not bad. I bought it to make ube lattes and unfortunately the “not bad cough syrup” taste morphed into “overpowering, really bad cough syrup” in the coffee. I’m almost certain I didn’t even put that much. It looks like people have had better luck making ube lattes using the Butterfly brand of ube extract so I just ordered that instead. Hopefully it works out.2 stars because the bottle is nice. It smells nice too.

If you’re looking for an ube syrup that tastes anything like ube, keep looking! I attempted to use this for an ube latte the other morning and had to dump it out after a smell/taste test. It does not have that semi-sweet nutty, vanilla flavor profile you would expect with ube. Rather, it tastes almost like synthetic coconut? The smell is also very unpleasant. Sad to waste such a big bottle, but it is quite literally unusable

Came a day early, tasted good.
