Too many typos!!!!!
I was required to purchase this text book for a humanties class. I feel like I paid sixty-three dollars for a "book" that's thinner than some magazines and a bunch of typos. I don't know who signed off on the copy that went to print but they let some major errors get through, and I'm only in the second chapter! I've come across repeated words as well as whole sentences getting printed twice. What really urked me was when the end of a sentence was omitted. Seriously the worst textbook I've had to purchase.

Storytelling essential
I bought this text because it was required for my Storytelling Class at South Mountain Community College. I was delighted to find that is well written and provides the perfect primer for storytelling.

Connecting with ourselves and others through story
Liz weaves together stories, biographies, quotes, suggestions, lessons, anecdotes, and classroom structure like a magician performing a magic trick. It’s amazing. I don’t know how she did it, but the result is a seamless book that delivers the quintessential essence of oral storytelling. Each chapter has some basic storytelling techniques, examples of how it is used, what can be done to hone one’s skills, a small bio on a storyteller with some pithy wisdom to share, and a few stories to bring it all home. The first time I came across this text was in a storytelling class at a community college. I have to admit that I did not appreciate how awesome this text was until many years later.Since then I have become a father who likes to tell his little girls stories at night: from Native American tales, German and Irish fairytales, to Greek and Nordic myths. Lately I’ve wanted to improve my storytelling, which reminded me of this text. I can honestly say that my storytelling has improved as has my enjoyment since working with Warren's text.If you want a book to help you become a better storyteller, this is it. In addition, I suggest you YouTube the different storytellers Liz Warren introduces and listen to them tell their stories while keeping an eye and ear open to how they apply the techniques you've learned from The Oral Tradition Today.
