Is the container plastic or glass? Do you stir it?

The container is plastic. I stir it when I get it and then stick in the refrigerator. I love this simple and all natural peanut butter. And it tastes great!

Every jar has an inch of oil on top and it is very difficult to mix in because of the thickness of the peanut butter underneath. Is this normal?

Yes, normal. I use one of the curly electric mixer blades--I think they are meant for bread dough mixing or something. I only use one on low speed. I place the jar in the sink and hold onto the jar very tightly with my left hand and the mixer in my right hand. Really hold the jar tightly or it will spin out of your hand when you turn the mixer on. Mixes in less than one minute if you move the blade around while mixing. Then into the fridge and it firms up nicely. If you like your peanut butter less moist, just pour off a little of the oil before mixing.

Why is this not usda organic?

Among the FAQs on Crazy Richard's website, they claim to support U.S. peanut farmers, and that organic peanuts are grown in China and processed in Canada -- which, I guess, is the reason they don't use organic peanuts.
