Well worth it.
I honestly didn't think it would be this good...... But it is! Straightforward and easy to use. Transformed my hand sharpened chains.. drastically reduces sharpening time.

Much quicker than filing by hand
Been sharpening saws by hand for over 50 years and got pretty good at it. My mate got a similar machine to this and I was quite impressed (a Dremel) until it packed up. Just the chainsaw attachment for the Dremel was around the same price as the complete Oregon sharpener! It arrived today and thought I'd touch up both my saws with it. Somewhere I think it states that the lead is 5 metres long - even with the jump lead clips attached it's actually only 2.7 metres - I think I'll probably extend it as it's a bit shorter than I'd like. Anyway I was very pleasantly surprised at how quickly it sharpened the teeth, both saws done in a couple of minutes! The other advantage is that I don't need to hold the saw in a vice while sharpening (my preferred method when using a hand file). A little bit of care is needed when starting and finishing each tooth to make sure it doesn't catch the edge on the way in or out, but soon got used to it. I tried it with a spare car battery and also a little jump start battery pack - worked fine with both, but the battery pack is much more portable.

Check your car/van lighter fuses
Right, I had 8 chains to sharpen, usually take them to shop to get it done, but I thought I’d give this Oregon sharpener a go. I unpacked it and plugged it into my van’s cig lighter, didn’t work? So I plugged it into my BMW cig lighter didn’t work! Thought it must be a faulty item. However my wife came home so I tried her cig port, it worked!! Then I remembered I had a cig port in the back of the BMW, tried that it worked! So I had faulty fuses in my van and front of my car. Anyway I have just sharpened all eight chains, on different Stihl saws and it was very good, easy to use and quick, all eight now sharp. 5 stars.
