Works amazingly well
This wireless Carplay adapter (Ottocast U2 Air Pro) is incredible! I bought it for my 2023 Mazda 3 hatchback after doing a lot of research and couldn't be happier.Setup took just a few minutes, and after it was setup it started working immediately. Every Carplay function I've tested works perfectly and the only delay that I've noticed occurs when starting, pausing, or switching songs. The delay is very slight, maybe a second or two, and doesn't bother me at all. There isn't any other delay I've noticed when navigating around the Carplay interface; it's smooth as silk. The other thing that impresses me is that Carplay consistently starts up about 6-7 seconds after turning on the car. That's as fast (or maybe faster) than I've seen in cars with built-in wireless Carplay. Finally, the Ottocast is really small and appears to be very nicely made. I have it mounted in my center storage console where my usb ports are so I don't even see it. If you're looking for a great way to get wireless Carplay in your car I can't recommend this highly enough.

Ottocast U2Air Pro worked well, briefly
The U2 Air Pro connected easily and efficiently with my iPhone 13 Pro. It worked very well and synced quickly three times. It then stopped working. My phone says it's connected, but the device freezes at the opening flash screen and does not go any further. Following troubleshooting directions does not work. I've emailed Ottocast support and have received no response. I am returning the device to Amazon today.

Very laggy with audio
If this is the “fastest” airplay dongle out there, then id be horrified to try anything else. To say this is fast is a complete stretch. Connects initially to the vehicle and iphone smoothly so compatibility for me personally is good. From there it takes about 15 seconds to connect once you start your vehicle, note that that is 15 seconds after your infotainment system(stock screen) loads. So thats a few seconds for your factory animation to load the display then 15 seconds after that. When it comes to music, all the factory vehicle controls work(stereo and steering wheel controls) with this unit. But when you use any command(pause/play, next, mute, etc.) you will find that there is also a delay, and this delay has been about 2 seconds on average.Anything that comes to video and this unit becomes irritably useless. On a facetime call, skype call, or if parked and watching youtube or any type of video clip(including your phones own camera roll) the delay between the visual and the audio is at a lag of between 1 to 2 seconds. Its size and weight are very acceptable, small enough to tuck out of sight easily and weighs next to nothing. Feels very solid but i wouldn’t want to drop it from more than a foot in fear of it cracking.I will note that this drains battery on your phone substantially. I suggest you have a cord or wireless charger to pair with your phone as well while using this unit. All in all for the money i would hope this would be a better value, especially for its claims of speed. The audio lag and button response is the true disappointment for me here. If that is something important then i would avoid this. On the other hand if you are looking to use it strictly for wireless navigation connectivity and have a wireless power source to double up with it then this is a good choice.

Pretty good but not magic and glitchy with multiple phones
Works very well once configured between my phone and my Mazda CX-5 (2017, with factory CarPlay upgrade hardware from the 2018 model).Documentation is almost nonexistent but there are only a few configurations. The unit’s internal configuration website is at 192.168.1.101. There are four modes for streaming - Default, then modes 1-3, no explanation. There is a firmware download link, which I guess checks for updates using your cell data while you’re connected to CarPlay.Once this is set up on my phone it works great but there are several drivers in my house with different phones and the unit often gets screwed up between drivers/phones. The most common bug is that the screen goes completely black but still seems to be providing voice instructions. Often, the fix takes place on the phone, by going to Settings - General - CarPlay - then the unit name, and toggle CarPlay “off” briefly then back “on.” Most of the time the display pops back on and CarPlay can be re-enabled. Sometimes I they display stays black and you have to reboot the entertainment unit by holding down Back, Nav, and the Mute button for 10 seconds. Rarely, you have to do both.Multiple phones/drivers are an obvious and frequent use case. These glitches really shouldn’t happen at all and the unit’s firmware should smoothly identify which phone to use for wireless CarPlay at boot up. Minus two stars.
