Dunlop Rev. Willy's Electric Guitar Strings 07-38 Box of 6 Sets I first tried lighter gauge strings after reading an article by Eddie Van Halen. I worked my way down until I bought a set of Dunlop Rev. Willy's Electric Guitar Strings 07-38 and I have been using them for 10 years. EASE OF PLAYING: Compared with other strings I have used, Dunlop Rev. Willy's Electric Guitar Strings 07-38 are much lighter, bend easier, hammer on and pull off easier, barre easier, and pick easier. You will do new tricks that are hard to do with heavy strings. And your hands won’t get so tired after long playing — that’s especially important if you’re getting on in years. SOUND: I get plenty of highs, midrange and bass from these strings. They can give a shimmery tone in the high midrange that other strings don’t produce. And I like the sound. INSTALLATION: These strings are fine and will shoot across the room when they uncoil. Wear eye protection when you change strings. Make sure you don’t kink them while putting them through the bridge. After they are tightened and tuned, you don’t have to baby them. HELPFUL HINTS: These strings are easy to play and will probably let you do things that thicker strings won’t. If you are curious, try a package — they aren’t that expensive. Then take your time and trust your ear. I think you will have fun, and that’s what’s important, after all.

I've been a player for 33 years, I have owned more guitars than I could count and I have always played guage 9 strings, super slinky's for about the last 20 years. I decided to try 8 guage and really liked them and then I saw these 7 guage shortly after and I had to give them a try. Albeit, I was very skeptical, but after installing them on one of my many guitars, I fell in love right away. They play like butter, are very durable and can bend for days. The tone is also fantastic, no loss whatsoever. I bought several more sets to install on other guitars and these will now be my new strings from here on out. UPDATE 8/2021 : OK folks...these are it!!!! I love these strings more than any other, every time I pick up a guitar with Guage 9 strings, they just feel like heavy gritty lackluster wire to me anymore, they just don't even feel right after playing these. These strings have truly transformed my guitars, all of them. I still have a few guitars in my studio with Guage 9s that are about to be re-strung with these because I don't even like to play em with those old Guage 9 strings on em. My guitars feel better than ever, they even sound (slightly) better and brighter. I play everything from metal, classic rock to chicken picken country, these are the strings for me. Never thought I would ever go to a lighter guage after all these years, but I am a transformed player and can admit that it's never too late to try something new or different.

I put these (extra lights) on my Yamaha FG730S acoustic guitar to start. My hands don't work like they used to and I have small hands. They make playing much easier and still sound decent. They are thin and hard to differentiate by looking at the wire but they have color coded lugs that make it simple. I bought a couple sets for both of my guitars but haven't put them on my electric yet. The acoustic playes like an electric now. String bends are very easy. They seem to hold tune well. I think someone starting out could benefit from the ease of playing and these could help overcoming a poorly set up guitar. An FG series Yamaha guitar ($200) and a set these strings would be an excellent starting point for a new player. Update..... after a couple weeks..... these play very easy. But I have grown to not like the sound of them on my acoustic guitar. Still haven't strung them up on my electric. If your looking for ease of play, the are great but the sound is not great for an acoustic.

I really like these strings. Not the big name brand. They come in really low gauge sets like 007. I know not for everybody but for certain applications on certain guitars the 008 work good. Zappa and Billy Gibbons plays ( played ) extremely light string. They come in higher gauge sets also.

Good and bad....I bought the 8’s and 9’s... I put the 9’s on my maple neck Stratocaster. I must say, they stay in tune really well, much better than slinky’s and the like. They feel really good, sound really good . ..!.they bend really well and easy. They have a fat tone. The packAging is awful. If you are gonna use these on stage or at a gig, you better buy a set of GHS strings , the ones that have each string in a paper sleeve, open up a new set of these mexican lottery strings and wrestle each string into its own paper sleeve ( put the ghs string somewhere else..) lAnd write 1 2 3 4 5 or 6 on the paper and put in the correct string from the Mexican set. If you try to open the Mexican set at a gig , you will be on the floor for 10 minutes trying to find the correct string. 2 of the strings have a black ball end and the other 4 are variations of silver and brass which all look the same in dim light. Billy gibbons doesn’t care cause he has 8 or 9 guitars on stage and a guitar roadie. These strings cost too much to have such terrible packaging.

I've only been playing electric guitar for a year (was classical before that) so it's quite a learning curve -- which model to get, what kind of frets, what pickups?!? After trying guitars from $500 Casino to $3300 Gibsons, I ended up with a $1500 Vox with P90 pickups. Eventually I started trying different strings... a million choices. Since I record synth heavy music and use the live guitar to play rhythm and add warmth and jangle and chime, I tried these 7 gauge strings. Oh yeah! Jangle and chime galore!!! So bright! I couldn't believe the difference in the high end with these. And sooooo easy to play! They take a bit of getting used to since they're more "floppy." Also, you have to play with a lighter touch or they will go sharp if you press too hard. And I use the lightest and biggest pick possible, which gives it an even sharper, sweeter sound. The sound I get sits beautifully in the mix and cuts through all the synths. I'm super happy with these. One caveat is that you have to tune them up carefully when first stringing. I got carried away and was tuning it too high and broke the high E. My fault! Oops! So, the lesson here is don't be stupid like me and pay attention ;) Easy to play, sound sweet and bright, and they're so inexpensive. Score!

man you can bend these to the moon without much effort. Nice twangy sound. Holds tune pretty well even with huge bends. So far very durable and at a good price. Thank You Reverend Willy.

I've been curious about these strings for a while now, so I bit the bullet and tried a couple of sets out in the .007 gauge set. I installed them on a 1968 Telecaster and a 1995 American Standard Stratocaster. First off, I have to say that these strings are amazing! The feel is slinky and going from 10-46 to 7-38 was an adjustment, but after a few minutes playing, it was all good. The feel is great, and I am enjoying playing my Tele which always felt a little stiff, and the Strat is like a new guitar! And the cool thing is, I didn't even have to adjust my truss rods or alter my setup other than an intonation adjustment. The tone these strings produce is great, and after having these on my guitars for over a month now on a hanger, they are remarkably still in tune with only the most minuscule tweaks on the tuners on a string or two put them in perfect pitch. As an older player with arthritis and joint related problems, these are a godsend and I commend Dunlop for bringing these out. I suffer a great deal from joint pain, and with these strings, I play more comfortably and fluidly than I have in a while. For those who say "Big string give big tone", I challenge you to try a set and see how they work for you. You may be pleasantly surprised. I think they sound fantastic, and I'm switching all my guitars to these. Great job, Dunlop and Billy Gibbons!

Llevo tiempo probando diferentes marcas y calibres, y estas Rev. Willy’s Mexican Lottery 08-40 me han sorprendido muy gratamente. Son extremadamente cómodas, con una tensión muy baja que facilita bendings amplios y vibratos suaves sin esfuerzo. Perfectas para quienes buscan un tacto ligero pero con carácter. El sonido es brillante, definido y con ese punto “bluesy” que responde muy bien tanto en limpio como con overdrive. Los armónicos salen con facilidad y mantienen claridad incluso con bastante ganancia. A pesar de ser un calibre fino, no se sienten frágiles ni pobres en cuerpo; al contrario, tienen un tono equilibrado y articulado. Además, la calidad de fabricación es excelente: buena estabilidad de afinación y sensación consistente en todo el juego. Ideales para estilos blues, rock clásico o cualquier guitarrista que quiera tocar con menos resistencia y más expresividad. Sin duda, repetiré. Muy recomendables.

After 50 years of using 9s, I thought I’d give 8s ago. I’m hooked, very nice strings. I’ve got nerve problems in my fingers so the lighter top strings are kinder, without losing any tone.

Son fáciles de tocar y se instalan fácilmente. Hasta ahora sólo he tenido problemas con mi Floyd Rose pero creo que es debido a que ya tiene algunas partes vencidas, por lo demás hace muy buenos bendings. 100% recomendables.

細い弦がいい、てもピッチの安定性も損ないたくない。そんな時にこれを試してみた。3弦チョーキングが軽い。これ求めていた。 ただ1から3弦が最初から折れグセと汚れ？のようなものが付いていたのが残念。それがなければ4以上つけたと思います。
