Yes you can. I have used different liquid soap brands including soft soap, dial, body works, etc. I have had my dispenser for 1-2 years without any problems. It is actually a better one than simply human. Battery location is on back side of container and not at bottom where batteries can get easily corrosion and damage dispenser. It is clear soap chamber to see when filling is needed with easy pour area on top and adjustable knob for amount. Nice size and enough room for someone with big hands to get underneath. Can you put gel hand sanitizer in this dispenser?

No! I bought mine about 6 months ago and the alcohol in the hand sanitizer kill the pump in less than 6 months. It's not meant for high alcohol volume.

Mine does not release more than a drop of soap and i have it on the max setting. i am using myers liquid soap. is mine defective?

I had a problem with my soap dispenser, so I went on to the manufacturer's website and filed a support case. They were very prompt, but their email did end up in my junk folder so be aware of that. They gave me instructions to clean out the pump. Sounds like this would help you because thicker soap over time can clog it up. Mine was a different problem and to quickly sent me a new device. Are the batteries drained while this is not being used, but with the power switch on?

With the switch on, it will be using battery power as the circuit 'looking' for a hand under under the nozzle will be active and requires power.
