M Miguron Velona Flipper Folding Knife 3.5" Small Version 14C28N Dark Grey PVD Blade Grey G10 Handle Camping Hiking Pocket Knife MGR-8003DGS

Just unboxed the Miguron Velona and I felt the need to provide some in depth analysis on this stunner. Miguron has 2 size variants of the Velona, this is the smaller of the 2 but it’s anything but tiny. My immediate first impression, like how the scales are “grippie” but smooth at the same time. I always have positive lock-on and don’t feel like it will slip out of my hand even when wet. I like the heft. It’s not heavy by any means but just a solid instrument that’s well built for years and years of use. If this is the “smaller” one, I really don’t need to get the “bigger” one. It’s a perfect size that can handle anything I’d need it to, including field dressing big game. I’m not joking this a real knife and not some play thing. It was fairly sharp out of the box. I gave it a quick tune up on my BenchMade WS field sharpener and Holy Smokes!!! This thing can get sharp, wicked sharp. This is the sharpest edge I’ve felt in some time. I then went and cut a bunch of cardboard, twine, paper, plastic, etc. it’s still plenty sharp. Really, really good blade with awesome geometry. It’s a dream to work on a stone and a great slicer/dicer. I then disassembled it to see what’s under the hood. It has caged bearings around the pivot, sturdy and long screws holding everything together. It has a plastic piece in the middle of the liner that has brass standoffs going through it. I like the brass accents so on reassembly I didn’t put the plastic back in. Knife went back together with no problem and losing the plastic spacer hasn’t weakened the knife at all. It also doesn’t dig into my hand now that it has been deleted either. A couple of negatives about it are the fact that it is a flipper liner-lock. I hate liner-locks and despise flippers. I love Crossbar/Axis locks, even button locks. Also I gotta have a thumb stud too. That being said, this just might become my new daily driver in spite of the fact that it’s a liner lock. It’s that good of a blade. The last thing is, after cutting with it I’ve noticed some wear on the blades finish. Time will tell if the finish will wear completely off or just polish to an amazing patina. Either way it really doesn’t matter. At this price point it’s a tool to use and use it I shall.In summary this knife is a well built, durable, stylish tool you’ll have for years. It sharpens up quick, and retains that edge quite nicely. It’s also very affordable. You can do worse for sure. This one is a dandy, just buy it already.

I just recently heard about this knife brand. These knives a GREAT for the price. They use good materials, smooth action and a sharp blade. I now own 5 Miguron Knives.

Great feel in the hand. Nicely made, beautiful finish on the blade.

It's not as slicey as I had hoped because of the coating on the blade I think. It wears off easily which ruins the appearance of the blade. Hoping I can sand the coating off of it.

Best value at this price range, holds good edge, opening funtions well.

It is a solid, well built, razor sharp knife. Get one.

This knife I have o picks at it at all. Feels great in the hand. Well if I had to pick one it would be no jumping on the spine but it's contoured so it's still comfortable. G 10 handles at very well executed. The 14c28n is a great corrosion free steel. Liner lock has good access. T8 screws on the pivot and the body so it's great to not strip. Miguron is doing good things and what I have dealt with it's the best of 2023 in budget knives. Can't forget milled titanium pocket clip

Great action and feels good in the hand. It is in my edc rotation. Love the look of this knife.
