I got this product with high expectations as I've seen different camping products from this brand around for a while. After opening the box, I got shocked for the weight. This utensils set is heavier than I was expecting. I understand that Fire-Maple describe this set as lightweight, not ultra-lightweight. Fair enough. However, they state that the weight of this set is 94 gr. This information (94 gr) is provided by the description of the product on Amazon, as well as it's written on the set box. I weighted the set and my balance indicates 103 gr (110 gr including the storage bag). In addition, this weight exceeds the weight of my current utensils set (a cheap stainless steel set of fork, spoon and knife for use at home) that amounts to 84 gr. If I should take a decision based on weight, I think that it could be more convenient to still carry around my cheap utensils set. On the positive side, the Fire-Maple utensils set looks well-made and robust. Just be aware that they are compact, not too long. They are below 17.5 cm long. But they are still ok to handle during your meals. However, the spoon won't be long enough if you are one of those backpackers who relies on dehydrated meal in (long) bags. The knife only has teeth in one side, but it still works well. The knife could also work as beer bottles opener. I think that it's positive that all the utensils fit together and could be transported in a convenient storage bag.

I liked how compact this set is, when camping space is at a premium. It also comes in an attractive little drawstring bag. It is fit for purpose. Only thing I will say is that the knife is quite sharp so you have to be careful when slotting it all back together to put in the bag.

Ich nutze das besteck nicht zum Camping sondern habe es in meinem Notebook Rucksack dabei. Ich bin im Außeneinsatz bei wechselnden Kunden - und so habe ich nun immer Besteck dabei. Das Messer ist kein Steakmesser, zum Schnitzel schneiden oder ein Brötchen zu schmieren reicht es. Gleiche gilt für Löffel und Gabel. Sehr viel besser als das Plastikbesteck aus dem Supermarkt und so immer zur Hand. Und alle 3 zusammengesteckt klappern nicht und es stehen auch keine spitzen Ecken hervor die irgendwo hängen bleiben können. Fazit: Auch im Alltag für unterwegs sehr praktisch.

Das Besteck von Fire Maple besteht aus Edelstahl und hat ein entsprechendes Gewicht aber dafür auch einen entsprechend niedrigen Preis und verfügt über eine ordentliche Stabilität. Ich nutze es für Motorradreisen bzw. Roadtrips - es hat alle Funktionen die man dafür braucht, ist sehr kompakt und klappert nicht.
