Just what we needed

The eggs were a little larger than what I anticipated but made it work with a bigger bird.

While smaller than I was expecting, the nests are adorable. Adequate for my needs in size but another half-inch or so all the way around would be better. What was super, though, is they look like the picture. They aren't just mats of hair you need to shape when you squeeze them out of the mailer. They really look like long twigs and small sticks. The mossy, lichen-like material is nice and helps hold it all together That's important since I think they'll hold up to being spray-painted gold (I'm making dragon nests!). Be prepared for debris all over when you open the bags, though. The tiny eggs, which I didn't need, are stiffly wired in but getting them out was easy. I'm sure I'll find a use for them.My only concern and why I gave only four stars is about safety. Being inexpensive and made in China from un-worked natural materials, are these things treated with chemical preservatives or other substances. Is the paint on the eggs lead-free?

The piece is just so sweet. It is smaller than I would have thought. 'Almost seems closer to three inches than four. I would prefer eggs in more-natural colors, like cream colored with soft speckles, or whatever, than the pastels. And while the nest is rather tiny, the eggs are a little larger than the typical bird's egg. So a tiny nest filled with somewhat-large eggs. I suppose I would prefer again what is closer to nature. But the piece is really pretty, and I appreciate it. Ideal as a silk tree ornament.
