It just works
This is a nice basic OBDII code reader. I haven't had any issues reading or resetting the codes on my problematic 2003 Chevy 2500 HD 6.0L truck (previous owners caused issues). The only thing that the reader didn't do that it said that it could was read the VIN. To me, this isn't a big issue since I can read the VIN from several other places from the truck. If you need a cheap code reader, this is one that does work.

A handy car diagnostic tool
This review is for the V310 Scanner for Car, and I must say, it has made my life as a car owner a lot easier. I'd give it a solid 4 stars. The first thing that caught my eye was the clear LCD display. With its 128 x 64 pixels resolution, it provides a more detailed and faster detection of issues. This is a gasoline car code reader, and it supports nine standard protocols of OBD II/EOBD. It's practically a plug-and-play device, making it a breeze to quickly read my car's fault information and vehicle parameters. One of the standout features of the V310 Scanner is its compatibility. It works with all 1996 and later OBDII compliant US, European, and Asian vehicles. Plus, it's multi-language supported, which is a handy feature for users who prefer different languages.I've used it to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes, check I/M readiness, and once even turn off the MIL ("Check Engine" light). The scanner also displays current sensor data, including critical information like engine RPM, coolant temperature, and fuel system status. It covers a wide range of parameters, making it quite comprehensive for fault diagnosis. The V310 Scanner supports 9 protocols and has a white backlight with contrast adjustment for displaying test results. I like that it doesn't require any additional batteries or chargers. It draws power directly from the OBDII Data Link Connector in your vehicle. The 6 buttons on the scanner are quite intuitive and help you quickly identify car error codes. The only reason I'm not giving it a perfect 5-star rating is that it might not be the most beginner-friendly tool. If you're not familiar with car diagnostics, it might take some time to get the hang of it.In summary, the V310 Scanner for Car is a great addition to my toolkit as a car owner. It's a versatile and powerful diagnostic tool that provides a wealth of information about my vehicle. If you're comfortable with a bit of a learning curve, this scanner is an excellent choice to keep your car running smoothly.

great no-frills OBD reader
I really like this OBD reader. It’s not fancy – there’s no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection, and it doesn’t display a ton of information. But the price is right, and it provides all the functions I need with a quick easy interface using just a few buttons.• You can check for diagnostic trouble codes and look up any that are found. You can clear the codes and reset the Engine Check Light.• You can view a few real-time data graphs such as car speed, coolant temperature, etc. This is not all that useful for me, but I suppose some folks will like it.• There’s an easy-to-use trouble code lookup function, which tells you a few words about the nature of the fault. You can look up any code, not just ones identified by the OBD function.• It lists your VIN• It plugs into the Data Link Connector underneath the steering wheel using a 33” cable. It doesn’t need a battery since it uses the car battery.I tried this out on our 2007 Toyota Tundra and our 2010 Toyota Rav4, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. Since the DLC connector is on the far-left side of the Rav4 I found the cable barely long enough to reach across my legs to my right hand. But this is a minor issue. It was fine for my Tundra. The monochrome display is bright and easy to read, even when I don’t have my readers handy. The instruction manual is a bit hard to read due to some poor English. But here’s an interesting factoid: this unit seems to be identical to the Motopower MP69033 OBD reader, which Car and Driver ranks as its “Best Budget Scanner” in 2023. You can go to Motopower’s Amazon product page and download a much nicer and easier to read manual.I have an older Bluetooth OBD reader, which I don’t like nearly as much. I just get tired of fiddling with pairing the phone, buying apps, and always needing to have my phone handy (and eyeglasses so I can read the small print on the phone). But that’s just me, I’m not much of a phone guy.

Works as intended
Now I am by no means mechanic and undoubtedly do not use this tool to its fullest capabilities, but it is easy enough to use, pretty plug and play. I am using this to read the check engine codes on our vehicles so I am better informed when we inevitably take one of our vehicles into the shop. This it does well, as for other functions like live data etc, I can't really speak to it.

Reliable Indicator for Car Health
The V310 Scanner for Car is a reliable and affordable diagnostic tool that proved invaluable for my needs. Here's the story behind it:A few weeks ago, my old car's check engine light suddenly came on. Worried about the potential issues, I took it to my local auto mechanic shop. They quickly determined that it was likely a minor problem with the gas tank lid seal and assured me it wasn't a significant concern. They reset the system, and I left, relieved. However, my relief was short-lived. Just a week later, the check engine light reappeared. Remembering that the mechanic had used a car scanner to diagnose the issue and reset the light, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.I ordered the V310 Scanner, and it turned out to be precisely what I needed. This scanner does an excellent job of assessing my car's condition and helping me understand potential issues. It gives me the insight I need to take care of my car's maintenance effectively.Overall, the V310 Scanner is an affordable and user-friendly tool that offers valuable insights into your vehicle's health. It's an excellent addition to any car owner's toolkit and provides peace of mind when dealing with those unexpected check engine lights.
