60% good, 40% bad
Arh, where should i start on this game, lets talk first about the weapons; i think the weapons and equipment are brilliant. from your silenced G-17 (GLOCK), to your LAW 60 rocket luncher, and there all realistic. I mean e.g if you shoot your M-16 more than 2-3 bullets you will spray. And graphic detail is good...but could be improved. Missions are kinda the same e.g sneaking into a factory and stealing a computer chip and some files. But not bad at all, in my view there short, but some are DAMM hard to complete. Detail on things like forests are brilliant, and weather afects from rain, to falling snow.Best weather afects i have ever seen on a FPS game, and i have played alot of FPS games. Now heres the downer...the AI IS SOOO STUPID. what i mean is you could be running and a guard hears you, then you stop and nothing else happens, i mean he doesnt look where you where running, or doesnt run and set the alarm off etc. And another thing is you put on your heat thermal goggles and run about, a guard hears you from behind a wall, he shouts out and you see him behind the wall, and he starts running in circles! Thats so stupid, AI is rubbish. Also i shot a detection camra near a guards command post, it go's bang and he didnt even flinch! just carryed out looking in one direction! Apart from AI the game is ok, hopefully if codemasters make a 3rd IGI, they need to improve greaty on AI. The guards need to be more aleart, and look out more. Another great thing in the game is the sound; in one word "brilliant" makes you feel like theres a guard behind you, or theres rain falling down outside. But to make the most out of IGI2, you need a good sound card, and a REALLY good graphics card. If you dont then the game will be terribley laggy and slow. And then you will kick yourself for buying the game! But overall - graphic detail good, sound exilent, gameplay great,AI lacking&poor. I would say not worth ยฃ30 quid, maybe lower. You like FPS, and steath, get this.

IGI 2 - Covert Strike, the truth
there's no point in arguing that its a good game, enjoy up to 30 types of weapon and use high tech stuff, such as a map computer, thermal imaging, hack into computers, pick locks, set security cameras off - line etc. The best weapon i think would have to be the desert eagle, or the thermal imaging sniper rifle. There are so many different levels that you can enjoy, or repeat. i would recommend this game to use - even better for multiplayer!!!

Project: Mediocre Rehash
This game was originally penned for release in July of 2002, and maybe if it had been released then, it would have favoured better. However, with games such as Splinter Cell, Black Hawk Down and Rainbow Six Raven Shield arriving in and around the same time, it never stood a chance. I say this, because as a big fan of the original IGI, I had high hopes. I hoped that this sequel would be as innovative and enjoyable as its predecessor, but my hopes were sadly misplaced. In fact, I may as well have gone and bought the first one again, as in terms of graphics technology and gameplay, they are nigh-on identical. It is this lack of innovation or even, progression that lets the game down, combined with poor overall performance from a game with such mediocre graphics and levels which are practically identical in terms of objectives and layout. In fact, for a 'stealth' game, it is far easier to actually shoot your way through each level rather than attempt to sneak through, not to mention far less boring. This is the overall problem with the game, it is dull. It has no sense of tension or real purpose and is totally unispiring to play. In fact the only good feature really is the brilliant music score, which would have been much better suited to a more deserving game. In the current tactical shooter market, Splinter Cell rains on IGI 2 from a great height, whilst Raven Shield just mops it up. Enough said.

Best. Game. Ever.
This, in my opion, is the game of the year. I realise its only februrary, and there are lots more games due out this year (including Deus Ex2), but I really don't see how any of them are going to top this. Personally I disagreed with people who said the original lacked a save game feature. Fortunatly in adding a save game feature to IGI2 they have made it into an in game feature (you use your map computer to upload mission data to IGI hq). The number of times you can save varies by difficulty, and is represented in game by the battery power available on the map computer. Maybe the game is a little short (around 10 hours single player), but the multiplayer will certainly add many hours of game play. And the multiplayer is excellent, its every thing that counter-strike should have been. Each map contains a mission that one of the two sides (terrorist/IGI operatives) is trying to achive, whilst the other is trying to stop them. If you like action/stealth first person shooters, this is the game for you. Just remember, the most obvious route is not always the best :-)
