Saved my 1967 Galaxie from burning to the ground. I did have to use a whole one. China alternator caught on fire and burnt my fuel hoses, spraying fuel everywhere. Fire loves fuel. The whole engine bay got charred. Car didn't like it. No more china parts. Spend extra. Thank you USA. Never buy china junk when your life (or your 67 Ford) depends on it. So I bought 2 more. Awesome. God bless American companies.

I hope I never have to find out how good these are! What I actually purchased was "peace of mind." And THAT is worth every penny...right now! My biggest concern was that my tiny wife would be able to lift and use the fire extinguisher if necessary. She can handles these just fine, yet each one is large enough to put a dent in a well-developed flame.

Purchased this in March of 2022 after seeing a local home burn down on the news. I searched for Amerex specifically because these are the ones we used while I was in the Army and I have seen many Soldiers trust their lives to them. I realized I had smoke alarms, but nothing to stop it if it did happen. Mounted these on the wall and hoped I would never have to use them. March of 2023 I fired up my propane grill to preheat it for cleaning. The grill was up against the brick of my house. I let it heat up while making dinner for the family inside the home. My dog was out back and came barking to the door. I tried to let her in but she began barking furiously and took off out around the house. Not sure what was happening but knowing there was a problem, I followed. As I came around the side of the house I saw my grill engulfed in flames, and flames reaching up and licking the soffit. I ran inside and grabbed this fire extinguisher off the mount and headed back to the fire. I yanked the pin, aimed, and squeezed off a couple of burst, then cut off the propane. The fire was out, the side of the house was charred and the attic was filled with smoke, but crisis averted. This fire extinguisher saved our home. I intended to get the one I used refilled, but I got a new job a few months later and moved. Today I took the used one to a refill center to have filled. The man behind the counter said we do this thing where we take yours and swap it with a filled one, but yours is a really nice one so I bet you would rather wait to get it back. His manager came out and said I can swap it, I keep a brand new full one under my counter for just this occasion. He reached under the counter and handed me this exact same model. I am Amerex for life.

While an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, having the needed cure easily accessible in case of fire can greatly minimize the damage or injury from a fire. I suggest you study the different types of extinguishers and make sure to buy the correct one for the potential fires you might experience in your application. I shopped around to find the correct size, weight, and fit for our home needs. 5lbs was the correct storage capacity for our kitchen along with a fire blanket. I have one of these on every floor of our home for quick access.

Arrived quickly fully charged and ready to go. I like that there’s a short hose attached for aiming the retardant and the pin is secured well it won’t fall out accidentally. Only issue I can see is the bottom handle by the level be nice if it was fixed to the extinguisher instead of having a bit of movement up and down. Seems like a quality extinguisher labeled in accordance with regulations and says it’s class A B and C seems like an ideal purchase to me.

I’m happy to have replaces my old extinguishers with these new ones. I also bought some blankets too for the kitchen and upstairs.
