Hostage Negotiator Card Game (Base Game)

Numerous YouTube videos exist for rules and play throughs etc so I'll not go over these again. Instead, I'll just say this must be one of the best solo games. Very thematic and easy to play, the game is all about building up trust and communication skills with a Terrorist or a similar 'baddy'. Once the relationship is fairly stable, you can be better prepared to rescue hostages and/or capture the Terrorist. The trust and all the rapport are built up by cementing good communications and by well timed deals and concessions to the stringent demands made. Dice rolling, with the designer dice, decides whether various outcomes are a success or a failure. Programmed 'Terror' cards act as timers and give the gave some unforeseen and unpredicted moments. You will find it tough going at first and should not be surprised if many initial games are lost.To win, at least 50% of hostages must be rescued......there are far more ways to lose!!! You will discover these very quickly!!A really great game based on a modern theme. You'll have 'just one more game' every time you lose.

This is quite a nice game with good replayability and a strong theme.I found the theme a bit gruesome personally.

A great little solo game with a quick play time, but deceptively difficult goals. You need to be constantly reassessing & adjusting your strategy as the game evolves, planning round your dice rolls, escalating threat level, gain & loss of conversation points AND the unpredictable behaviour of the hostage-taker (via the terror card draws).The pressure is palpable, and there are many expansion packs to ramp it up even more with crazier maniacs, kidnappers on buses and so on.Fabulous value for money all round!

I love this game. The choices are interesting and it adds to the tension. It is very straightforward to play. Expansions increase replayability.

Great game, great challanges

A great solo game - even better with the additional Abductor Packs (to add variation).Such a quick set up.Thematic, too.You need to cope with the element of luck but I like the text on the 'terror cards' which can explain the unexpected - the unstable nature of a hostage situation.It doesn't take up much table space and the turn of each terror card acts as a time-limiter - time is running out to get those hostages out!I looked for quite a while before Amazon came up trumps. I didn't think twice.
