20 studies for the classical guitar written by Beethoven's contemporary, Fernando Sor. Revised, edited and fingered by the great classical guitarist Andrés Segovia. These essential repertoire pieces continue to be used by teachers and students to build solid classical technique. Review: Clear copy… - This is a lovely presentation. The dots are perfectly clear to read and each piece is fully referenced. English translation is provided where necessary. Review: Of course it's in standard notation - Buying Segovia's 20 studies and giving a negative review because it isn't in tablature is like criticising the Mona Lisa for not being paint-by-numbers. These are seminal studies from Sor, arguably the finest composer for the guitar, edited and compiled by the father of modern classical guitar, maestro Segovia. Essential for all intermediate students and a collection even professionals can go back to time after time.

clean, simple, well edited!
Greatest guitar sheet work i ever got and you feel Segovia's accentuation in it. If you love Sor or need studies for him that's your book.

Book review
Great book for the intermediate guitarists. Also, good for more advanced players as exercises or for playing for personal pleasure. The studies in the book are in order of difficulty from 1-20. They include good finger markings but there are no dynamic markings. I would strong recommend that people do not buy this book unless they can read standard notation to a reasonable level because reading can get difficult at times plus there is no tab included, Alan

Nice edition
This is a decent quality edition of the famous "Segovia" studies, actually composed by Fernando Sor of course, and edited by Segovia. The typesetting is nice and clear; one or two of the pieces would benefit from being set out over more pages to make them less cramped, but they have been laid out to minimise page turning. Segovia's editorial markings are mostly good although one or two of the fingerings are a bit odd. I bought it without the CD that has the recorded performances and paid £8.50 which I think is pretty good value.

An All Time Favorite
Cleanly printed in a nice large format (which even with my poor eyesight, I can read well), this is my second copy of Twenty Studies after my original literally crumbled to dust. Every classical (and probably all finger-picking) guitarists should learn at least some of these pieces. Each of the 20 brilliant compositions emphasizes a specific technique (e.g. arpeggios, chords, rest stroke, etc.) making them ideal for practice. But, unlike many other studies, each is also a beautiful piece of performance quality music. You must read standard notation -- no tabs -- but, hey, that's just an opportunity to practice sight reading. (Fingerings in the score will at least help resolve many ambiguities.) Also you can't beat the price -- only 50 cents per song! Fantastic collection. Glad I got a fresh copy -- who knows how long paper editions of books like this will remain available!

Fernando Sor
Diese 20 Etudes wurden zutreffend ausgewählt, um den Geist und die Methodik des Beethoven der Guitare wiederzugeben. Der Masteo Segovia hat hier hier einen grossen Dienst den klassischen Guitaristen getan.
