The Complete Fairy Tales - Hans Christian Andersen (Wordsworth Special Editions) Paperback – January 4, 1998

I just saw the movie, "Frozen" with three of my grandchildren. It made me want to read all the fairy tales that Hans Christian Anderson wrote. This edition is a good buy and has all the tales. Let me say that even though we are older there is no reason not to make this a "must do" next night time read. Enjoy.

This is the most comprehensive book of fairy tales I have ever seen. I loved reading fairy tales when I was a child, and now at age 68, I find them still quite enchanting. I highly recommend this book!

Well, all of Andersen's tales are in this book. It was an education for me to read it. His tales are so different than the Brothers Grimm. You won't find tons of witches and magic and "traditional" fairy tales in this book. Anderrsen's tales are moral in tone -- I think he wrote them to teach Christian lessons. Some of them are preachy.I'm a Believer but I prefer the fantastic kinds of fairy tales.

I really like it what i didnt expect was that the cover was not the same as picture but it has all the stories

Fabulous book! Don't have many images but to read to my girls is perfect. I don't have a Kindle but if I ever get one, I hope they have it there too. This is a classic and at any age is the perfect definition of Fairy Tale Land!

These are the tales my dad read me as a kid, and now I read them to my 8 and 10 year olds.

The review of three stars is for the reason that I had received a child-like cover instead of the one that was featured. It's not picturesque or slightly pretty like another photo in the review section that I had seen. And on the bottom right both ends are slightly bent but I think it's the fault of whomever opened the hole in the packaging and whatnot.Otherwise, everything looks good

This is a classic collection of classic stories

Bought as a gift but is packed full of very imaginative stories that are suitable for both adults and older children, although I wouldn’t advice all of the stories for young children as some may not be suitable. The book design on the cover is beautiful also, yes I recommend.

The parcel itself was delivered on time. The book came intact. Exactly as pictured. Paper quality is a bit thin, but that doesn't really bother me. The corners of the book tend to peal off if not handled with care, so be a bit gentle with it. The binding is fine. IT HAS ALL 168 STORIES WRITTEN BY ANDERSEN COMPLETELY UNABRIDGED. IT IS THE COMPLETE COLLECTION! Size of the printing is very good, lovely illustrations inside, and I've also INCLUDED THE CONTENTS PAGE IN MY PHOTOS for anyone who wants to peruse before buying. Good job Amazon. Very well done. :-)

日本でも大いに親しまれているアンデルセンですが、こんなにたくさんの作品があるとは思っていませんでした。本のデータにあるように、Wordsworth Edition の Hans Christian Andersen The Complete Fairy Tales は、確かに1140ページある「どっしりした」本です。裏表紙の解説によれば 1835年から年まで30年間以上にわたって書き続けられてきたアンデルセンの童話、168話すべてが収録されているとのことです。全部ではありませんが、いくつかの話にはペン画のイラストも添えられていて、しっとりした味わいを添えています。なお、印刷の質がちょっと悪いところもあります。目次はページの順ではなく、作品の題名がアルファベット順に並んでいて、その隣に対応するページの数があります。分かりやすい寓話ばかりですから読みやすいと思いますし、一話の長さは平均すれば７ページ程度ですから、気楽にじっくり楽しんでください。なお、残念ながら作品解説などは、一切ありません。
