Is the size based on the nut or the stud?

It is the size of the head on the wheel stud or nut that the loose nut indicators would attach to. Find a metric socket that fits and you found the size you need. Most semi trucks are 21m I believe. I have 7 in my fleet from 3 different manufactures and these worked for all 7 trucks.
