Superior Pump 91246 1800GPH Thermoplastic Automatic Utility Pump, 1/4 HP

Bought this pump to pump water out of our basement. We place it in a well bucket and hook up a garden hose and this goes right to work. It is fast, convenient, dependable and is able to pump water at least six feet high to get it out of our basement. This will turn on when the water reaches a certain level and shut off automatically. We were so pleased with this product that we purchased a second one for a backup. We would highly recommend this product.

Short-version: this pump is missing a key component (check valve), and failed after one rainstorm. I bought this to put in a drain at the base of the driveway so we’d stop getting water coming in under the garage door. First problem: it doesn’t come with a check valve, so when I first tested it I discovered water would flow back down through the pump when it shut off, thereby raising the water level and causing the pump to turn back on. I bought a check valve and installed it on the pump (which also increases the pump height so it no longer fits inside the drain, creating additional work for me to solve that problem by sawing a hole in the drain cover. Second: the pump worked well for our first small rainstorm. Now halfway through the first susbstantial rainstorm of the season, the pump is not working and the garage is flooding once again. There doesn’t appear to be any clogs, but there’s also no clear way to disassemble the pump, so I am limited in my ability to troubleshoot. I am now left with a broken pump, a destroyed drain cover, hours and money wasted, and water in my garage. Do not recommend.

I can't say enough about how great this works. Powerful and quiet and self-contained. Perfect replacement for our relic of a sump pump.

As simply as possible; Doesn't work. I had wanted a simple, small pump to move the water from my driveway to a gravel bed nearby. I wanted a pump that was automatic so I wouldn't have to turn it on and then remember to turn it off when the water was gone. Simple right? Not so much. This pump would never turn on by itself, even though it is equipped with a float for just that purpose. The instructions say, "If pump doesn't turn on when water reaches 1-3/4" (or whatever it is) lift the pump up and turn it upside down to activate." 1. Who wants to do that? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose? 2. I DID do that, which activated the pump for about the first 10-15 times. After that the pump stopped working entirely. Complete fail.

I suspected this unit had seem some activity before it got to me and lo and behold when I first went to run it tonight, the float switch didn't work. Unit is stuck on. Will not switch off when water level reaches below the switch. Disappointed.

I ordered this item and recieved a pump that was broken at the bottom. So I requested a new one n sent it back I recieved the "new" pump and when I took it out of the box I find dirt and mud on the bottom of it and I paid for a new pump so I want a new pump so then I returned this one also and proceed to order yet another pump. Now my pumps here and it is the same dirty one I returned last! I just want a new not broken pump like I paid for.! So idk who's fault this is but I really need this pump and yet it keeps failing every time I try and for this price I don't want a used pump
