First impression was very favourable. The boat feels smooth and sturdy, and the cars (sillcone bodies with plastic wheels) are a nice size.We then took a closer look and had a good play with it.The boat has small wheels, which move smoothly enough over tiles and short pile carpet.The ramp that drops from the boat to the floor is easy to drop and lift, but the pivot points don't look as sturdy as I'd like for a young child.The top ramp moves up easily, and clips into place just under the flags. But getting it back down takes more of an effort than I'd like if giving this to a youngester. If it doesn't clip into place, then it drops as soon as you put one of the cars on it.The cars fit nicely and onto the boat.The flags have a little bit of rotational movement, but I can honestly see these getting damaged if given to a child who carries the boat by them on a regular basis or is a bit rough with them.The toy is promoted as suitable for water play, but both cars have holes in the bottom which are used to anchor them onto the display panel. Given all the recent concern about mould in bath / water toys this concerns me. There are also holes in the panel on the bottom of the boat, but this can be removed (held in place by screws), so that can be cleaned thoroughly.The listing says "FEATURES - Sound the horn and make way for your Ferry Boat captain!", which left me assuming the boat made a noise (possibly by pressing the horn). No it doesn't.The box says suitable for ages 1-4, but I'd be wary giving it to a child under 3 due to the parts I think may give out. And I'd be actively discouraging putting the cars into water, so probably easier to discourage the whole toy.
