I really struggled to get the pressure right when tamping my espresso. It was always to much or not enough. This calibrated tamper fixed my problem and really helped to improve my morning coffee. Super easy to use, no complicated directions. It fits perfectly and cleans up super easy. It came with a rubber tamping pad that works great. This was a great buy and I'm very happy I got it.

I was once told that the perfect tamp was 30lbs of pressure. I wondered how do you know that you are applying exactly 30lbs of pressure? The answer was you don't. Whether or not 30 lbs of pressure is indeed the perfect tamp, the key to a consistent cup is consistent tamp. With this tamper you can adjust the depth of the tamp to whatever you personally prefer. That's it, the same tamp consistently every time. It is easy to adjust just twist the handle. It has white markings on the side of the body that allow you to set the tamp. If someone adjusts the tamp for their cup you can just go back to the mark you use and you are set to go. The tamper feels heavy and well made. The pad that comes with it make an easy clean up. This has made tamping quick and easy.

Took it out of the box and it didn't work. Disappointing to say the least. Applied pressure and the tamp would not push down at all. Tried unscrewing it and replacing the handle and still nothing. Returning and not asking for a replacement. Cheap tamper, not worth the effort.

The tamping mat is the perfect size, it’s not very big but big enough to catch any overflowing grounds. The mat also has a portion where you can set your tamper while not in use. The tamper is heavy and well made. It does a great job at tamping my espresso.Overall I am so happy with this set. The tamper beats the plastic tamper that came with my machine hands down. The mat is a must have to keep your kitchen countertops protected and is easy to wash. This set is great for the at home barista.

I've been making lattes at home (and now on the road in my RV) for the better part of 15 years. When I moved into my RV, I left my old espresso machine behind until I just had to get another one a couple of years ago. The one I have has a built-in tamper that really is more gimic than tool as it's hard to get a uniform pressing.I finally decided to get a tamper since I'm planning on getting a new machine soon. My current one has a larger area than this, but I'm planning for the new machine, which has a 51mm opening. When I use this tamper on my current machine, it does a pretty decent job, and I can't wait to try it out on my new machine.The lip catches on the side of the filter holder and allows you to apply pressure to the whole area evenly. Uniformity is the key to making good lattes, and this is going to be a real upgrade for me. It's sturdy, has good weight, and really shows promise. I've never been good at getting a good uniform tamp, but this should definitely get me in the ballpark.I'm really glad I got it!
