The yarn equivalent of that amazing hole-in-the-wall place you found.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this yarn. For a 100% wool, it's hardly scratchy at all (which says a lot, because I'm very picky about wool textures) and very soft in the final knitted product. It is a little bit inconsistent with the thickness in places, but only every now and again. I am not sure if it's superwash, but it doesn't felt very easily, though it does shrink a slight amount after hand washing with machine drying. The dye is also set fairly well, so there was no bleeding when I washed it. Though, it did stain my bamboo needles ever so slightly blue. Overall, I liked this yarn a lot and I would buy again. For a sight unseen impulse purchase, from a random Chinese company I've never heard of, I am happily surprised and pleased at the quality.

Lovely colors.
So soft. Easy to crochet with. It’s very small tho like a 1 weight. Needs a size 2mm hook. That was a challenge and don’t need to frog it or it rips .. but made super cute socks for my daughter and her friends. I do feel bad it’s air dry only didn’t mean to make more work for my mom friend .

good dupe for a better-known brand
...which I will not name here, even though they also sell on Amazon. If you are into color change yarns, you might already know which one I'm referencing. Anyway, look at the yardage and the all-wool fiber content. I was out of blue colorways for a project and I don't think anyone could tell it's two different brands I'm working with. I also have a love-hate relationship with this kind of yarn. It's basically roving, so frogging back is its own circle of hades and sometimes impossible, the way it stubbornly sticks to itself. The gauge can be all over the place: there are long segments that are truly fingering and others that narrow down to laceweight. I haven't had trouble with breakage, but possibly tight knitters could. On the plus side, it's actual wool-not-plasticrylic and the color changes are mesmerizing and beautiful. I hate that yarn manufacturer slogan which goes, "the yarn does all the work", but a good gradient makes the simplest thing look like you are some kind of genius! I use this more for accessories, or household items: coasters, pot trivets, etc. It might itch for garments worn next to the skin and would almost certainly pill. Don't even think about the washing machine -- again, not plastic, and also not superwash. (Even though the Big Brand claims that their version is. Pro tip: No, it's not.) Right now, I'm working on panels for a chuppah (a kind of wedding canopy) for a bride-to-be in my knitting group. I don't know that I would get a better effect if I were working with Noro!

Terrible yarn goes from thread to rug thickness
This is the most aweful yarn I have ever encountered. Started off as thin as thread and got as large as rug yarn. My project was ruined. Expensive for how terrible the quality.

Beautiful colors, not soft, and a somewhat loosely spun singles yarn, which will affect sturdiness
I don’t know if this yarn is made in China, but the company itself is in China. They could’ve sourced this yarn from somewhere else, but because this yarn doesn’t follow the standards in most western countries for labelling, it’s harder to figure out what’s going on with this yarn. First, the pluses. The colors are beautiful. And color gradient yarn is great to work with, b/c the yarn does all the work for you. You get color changes without having to weave in a bunch of ends. The label does say it’s machine washable. I don’t know if I knew that when I bought it, b/c I don’t generally like superwash wool. So, I probably missed that part. So, that might be a plus for some people, but not for me. Next, the neutrals and/or cons. This yarn is thin. I think it might be thinner than I thought it was. It does say on the label what size needles and hook to be used with it, and it does list a gauge as 20 sts per 10 cm/4 in. But you cannot see the label in the listing. There’s no up close shot of the label like there would be with a vitamin or something. I just now went back and looked at the listing, and it does say fine/sock weight in the listing, but it’s rather buried. Who reads the whole giant page, when most of it is an advertisement for their company? The yarn is also a singles. It is not plied. I only saw reference to that in the video clip at the bottom of the column of different images you can click on. I don’t mind a singles yarn, but I can see from the reviews that a lot of people haven’t worked with this type of yarn before and feel that there’s something wrong with it. First of all, b/c it is wool, you will be able to break it by pulling it hard with your hands, and you can do this even if the yarn is plied, but with a singles yarn, it is even easier to do. That’s why people ply yarn when they spin…for strength. It also helps with pilling by encasing more of the fibers inside the ply structure. With a singles yarn, all the yarn is exposed, so it will probably pill easier. And plying evens things out, so singles yarn will have thick and thin areas. It gives it character. Singles yarn is cheaper to make, b/c you aren’t taking time and energy plying it, and gradient yarns are almost always singles, even if brands that are expensive. So, due to the fact that this is a singles yarn, it’s best used in projects that won’t see a lot of wear and tear. So, I wouldn’t knit socks with this yarn, but a scarf that just sits there around your neck might be OK, as would a shawl or sweater that gets light wear. Although, other singles yarn I’ve used were more firmly spun, and this yarn is not, so it might end up not being worth it. Time will tell. The one thing I disagree with the company about is that this yarn is soft. It is not soft. It’s rough. There are ways to soften wool yarn, hair conditioner might work, and I think soaking in water with vinegar causes the scales on the wool to flatten and feel softer and smoother. I will try to soften my project and if I can’t get it to feel softer, I will update the review. And something that the company does mention in a few places in the listing but might not register to people what exactly is going on is that the color changes are so long, that it’s possible that every color won’t be in every ball. So, when I ordered this, I bought 8 balls of the same colorway, and I thought they had made a mistake b/c a couple skeins looked different. But the colors all went together, and I am holding it doubled in my project, so I get the color gradient effect with also a marled effect. But it took me a while to realize that it was all the same colorway, but in working through a ball, you might not hit that particular color until the next ball. I had that happen in a yarn I bought from another online retailer, and at that time it bothered me b/c it kinda ruined my project, but this time, I’m working with it, and it’s fine.

Great yarn
I love the color scheme of this yarn. Great price for a 3-pack. The yarn is light and soft. Beginners might have some difficulties with the yarn, but as an experienced crocheted, I found it easy to work with. This review reflects my own, unbiased opinion.

I didn’t see the reviews until after I had received this- it’s very misleading to show a set of colours and a totally different colour at the end in the selling picture- I didn’t even see the different colour until I checked back later. See pic attached- i only intend to use the purples and pinks for this project so have removed that awful dark gray. I don’t know if I’d ever use it- it’s a horrible colour. Even white would have been a hell of a lot better.

the color scheme is awesome, if you like it... it is soft. it is one ply but will split a bit. if you pull, it will tear - like roving. but it is lovely to crochet. actually my 2nd buy. will probably buy again.
