So Comfy
So here's a verified buyer review for you. I know some would think I'm crazy, and I might be just a little. I purchased these Brainwaves XL Earpads to replace the stock ones for my new Monoprice Modern Retro Over Ear Headphones. Both the headphones and pads were reccomended from one of my favorite all time YouTube reviewers, Zeos from Z Reviews. In my experience, this man is so incredibly accurate with headphones and DACs and AMPs, etc. He's also fun to listen to and the farthest from boring you will ever know! So I ordered the pads the same day I ordered the Monoprice Modern Retros. I never heard the Retros prior to making this entire purchase. That's right, I ordered new replacement earpads for headphones on order too. All this because, mainly, of Zeos. I did try the new Monoprice cans before changing the ear pads and WOW! He was right again. They are significantly more comfortable. They provide a lot better quality and isolation. In 3 words, I love them. I love the headphones just as much too. Keep in mind these Brainwaves were slightly more expensive than the headphones. I'm just so amazed that in my experience you get what you pay for and that still holds true. The point is both the Monoprice Modern Retros AND the New Brainwaves Earpads are an exemplary choice, and a great financial decision. This was a first for me as I have been collecting headphones for about the last 10 years. I'm up to about 35 pair all included. To sum it all up, you cannot go wrong with either the headphones or the earpads. The new pads provide very deep, plush, wide bass. The mids are fantastic right up front with the treble, sweet and intense. No bleedover at all. Precise yet fun is how I would describe them. An over ear headphone lover's dream come true! Lastly, I believe in the hotly debated topic of headphone burn in. In my experience all types of headphones just sound better after 20 or 30 hours in. I believe this to be true from experience. Only in this modern era can we do what I did and benefit from the overall purchase. You do not have to spend several hundred (or thousand) dollars to achieve amazing comfort and bit perfect audio!

Easy way to improve already-good low-cost AKG 52’s
After watching DankPod’s vid on cheap but good headphones, I got a pair of AKG 52’s from my local Guitar Center. Pretty good after a day of break in. Definitely the best headphones I’ve owned so far, even including more expensive prosumer models. The stock pads let a lot of outside noise in though, and the speakers were a bit close to my ears for my liking. Makes sense given what they’re designed for, and the reviews outright praise how open this set of closed backs can feel. Still, I’m traveling soon, and I wanted something a bit better suited to listening to music for 12 hours with an engine roaring, *and* I didn’t want to shell out for another set of cans. Enter the fake leather pads from this listing. It was like I got a new pair of headphones! Bumpier bass without taking away any of the rest of the music, I can wear them for days, and they are much more isolating. My only complaint is that it can take a bit of positioning to get a proper seal with my head, but as these pads are over twice as thick as stock pads *and* I have an enormous George-Costanza-level head, I’ll give it a pass. No mod is ever perfect, but this comes pretty close. Did I throw out the stock pads? No, of course not, they still have their place… but I haven’t really wanted to put them back on yet. The AKG’s plus these pads come to about $60. That ain’t bad at all given what I got with this. I could mod it further (resistors and detachable cord) but as it is now… I honestly don’t feel the need. Maybe later.

SO comfy vs. the originals
I have bought many replacement pads for Beyer-Dynamic headphones, so far these are by far the best. They are definitely the biggest, which is critical because my ears fatigue and get sore easily. These cause 0 fatigue, the only set that has EVER done this. Install - All Beyer pads are honestly so easy to replace. As you mount you will notice the flap goes way over the headphone, these are bigger than normal in that regard. Shown in pic. 9/10 Sound - Instant boost in bass and clarity, but my other pads lost their coating, so it makes sense because the seal was instantly better. 9/10 Comfort - These are bigger than any pad I have ever owned, they are deeper and taller, and make ACTUALLY 0 contact with my ears, another first. 10/10 These stand alone on a pedestal in my mind for replacement pads, the only thing I cannot review is the durability, since I have only had them for a few months.

Fits AKG K712 Pro
I bought these to replace the stock pads on my AKG K712 Pros. It was only a slight challenge to put on considering that you can't use the mounting mechanism and have to stretch the base of the pads over the cups. With a little force that might seem a bit alien as you normally would never do such a thing to your beloved headphones, they slip right over and you simply need to adjust it afterwards so that they sit properly. In my opinion, these are much more comfortable than the stock pads, maybe because they are new, I can't say for certain but they feel wonderful and light on the sides of your head. The sound stage as the other reviews have said does indeed change but for my purposes, not enough to render this product obsolete. The base does indeed diminish further but not enough to call it terrible and a slight EQ boost can help depending on your use case. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase as I can personally manage it's downfalls but others are understandably turned away, it really depends on your use case.

Excellent replacement pads with excellent value!
These are insanely comfortable replacement ear pads. The memory foam is pillowy soft, yet the thickness of the pads keeps them from compressing too much, keeping your ears from touching the drivers. Installing them is easy enough, but depending on the model, it can be tough to gently install them without risking breaking them. Unfortunately, I did break an ear pad once, but this was complete user error. As long as you're working the leather around the headphone cup, it shouldn't break, it just takes a bit of time. After installing, it fits snugly, and I don't see them ever coming off. Sound quality is mostly unchanged, but I did notice a slight reduction in sibilance, which can be good depending on the model of headphones. If your pair of headphones uses foam on the drivers, I recommend installing these ear pads OVER the foam instead of placing the foam inside the ear pads themselves. This can be a harder install, but this is how you can get the best sound quality possible. If you put the foam in the ear pads themselves after installing, it will absorb a lot of treble and it will make them quieter.

The reviews are accurate...these are a BIG upgrade
Audio Pro. Wearing cans 5 hours a day...decades of experience in studios... Just installed on a pair of AKG K553 Pro...replacing the stock pads. Gotta say, the install was a little "fiddly", but mostly because i was afraid of damaging the new pads...after i got over that, it went quick. I rotated the pads as they were being slid into the little slot on the headphones, which worked well. 5 min. for the whole thing. They are definitely XL in that they feel much larger on the ears... compared to the stock pads....definitely more space and stand off of the ears....I ran thru some audio from the 60's and the present and they are not only comfortable, but seem to give a bit more "sound stage" . Total thumbs up. the stock pads from the K553 Pro just found a home on a pair of K240's, which is a nice combo too... Idea: why don't AKG and Brainwavz do a "VIP" version that include these from the factory? seems like a winner....

Worth it. Best upgrade for any cheap earpads
Buy them. If have the Samson sr850 or any headphones that come with terrible stock pads, these are such an immediate huge upgrade. The Samson's I bought are great headphones but came with those really thin velour pads that I have in the picture above. These brainwaves xl pads are very comfy and easy to install. Will be buying again for future headphones. The price is very affordable. I also have big ears and was worried about the round pads. I usually like oval pads for that reason. But the dimensions of these ones are spacious enough for my ears to not hit the drivers . Great buy. The only gripe I have with them is the audio profile is a little different with these on. And when I say that it's so hard to notice. So it's not a breaking point for it. The pads are alot thicker my previous ones so I get it. By far the best upgrade you can make for a pair of headphones.

Good for beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO
Pretty good replacement pads for the beyerdynamic DT 990 PROs. Installation was easy (just wrap the outer plastic ring around the rim of the headphones). Certainly easier than the stock pads. Comfort is A+. There is more padding and a larger hole diameter for your ears. Sound definitely changes. As others has mentioned, it changes the sound stage almost completely due to the closed/sealing nature. Bass is slightly heavier because of this. Closes out some exterior noise, but not as much as closed-back headphones. There is also a thin pad that separates your ear from the headphone driver, further muffling sound. So if you're looking for an alternative pad that won't absorb sweat/oil and will clean easily, I recommend it. If you're worried about changing how the sound comes out, look elsewhere or look to the other materials (velour, etc.)
