Sharing a review to help others spreading ashes at sea. I purchased the larger shell urn to use to scatter my dad’s ashes at sea. It was pretty and pearlescent. It came with everything I needed to put his ashes inside the interior bag, then put it in the box with the sleeve around it. We took him out to sea today. We put the box in the water and the sleeve opened up after a minute. It floated with the box right underneath. About 2-3 minutes later, the box filled with enough water to make it sink. The sleeve with the shell floated for an other minute or two and then sank. It was perfect, respectful, honorable, and beautiful.. exactly what we were hoping for. I do recommend this biodegradable urn. Hugs to you if you are in the market because of the loss of a loved one.

This is a tender subject but I am writing this review to help others in the same situation as me. I got this biodegradable urn to “bury” my husband’s ashes at sea, in a ceremony conducted on a cruise ship. This urn is heavy and fine quality cardboard/paper and has a pearlescent sheen to it. It comes with a certificate that it’s biodegradable which was accepted by the cruise ship in order to allow it to be released from the ship. I got the small size urn so that I could split the ashes—I would estimate that the small box holds maybe 40 percent of the ashes of a 160 pound adult. The small size is a good option if you want to retain a portion of the ashes in a full or child size urn—both also sold by Amazon. The small size is also a good option to keep it from being too heavy when filled with the cremains (even the small size is surprisingly heavy when filled). This urn was released into the ocean from the rear mooring area of a large cruise ship which was moving fairly quickly at the time. I was very glad I chose this option to prevent a situation where ashes could blow back onto the ship—that did not happen. This biodegradable urn performed perfectly and sank immediately. This product was excellent and I would highly recommend it. It was a fraction of the price charged by the funeral home for the same thing.

First off, ashes weigh a ton. This box was barely big enough for both my parents. I'd recommend a bigger box or even two boxes. Second, transferring the ashes into the biodegradable bag was not easy. A friend suggested I cut a hole in the bottom of the bag from the mortuary and let the ashes run in. Since I wasn't sure they were all going to fit, and I might have some leftover in the bag, I didn't want the bag to have a hole in it. The biodegradable bag must be set in something to support it during filling. I was doing this alone; another person is needed to hold open the bag. The box is very pretty. I will see if I can get it over the railing of the boat tomorrow. I may have to add more to this review tomorrow.

Love this! As the urn landed in the Pacific Ocean it completely "biodegraded". It was amazing. Highly recommend this beautiful urn and burial at sea.

Very nice urn for water burial. It was sturdy and easy to use. Lovely appearance and thematically appropriate for our ceremony. Floated briefly before sinking gently down. Highly recommend.

The product was lovely and easy to use. You place the ashes in a plastic bag they include, place the bag in the biodegradable box, then wrap the designed outer cover over the box securing it with the tape provided. When placed in the river the box floats for a few minutes and then sinks. The only complaint I had was that the outer cover loosens and floats for long while. I think they should include string to secure the outer cover so everything sinks at the same time.

I bought the small thinking they would be ok for my husbands ashes, he was under 70kg, no where big enough, has just cost me £21.00 to send it back.

I opted for the starfish design. Description of product was accurate, I would say it was even nicer than I had anticipated. The coral deign has an ever so slightly metallic sheen (not tacky or too loud). Like some have mentioned in the comments, unfortunate circumstances to find yourself having to purchase an urn but I am grateful at how easy and affordable it was.

The Urn was easy to close, and quite sturdy, Instructions were explicit. I have to admit that I was skeptical that this Urn would float with the weight of the CR' s within the Urn. I was pleasantly surprised, the Urn did float for a full 10 min before it disappeared slowly beneath the surface of the water. A Beautiful send off

Very beautiful. It will only hold the cremated remains of a small person. If the person weighs more than 150 lb at the time of their passing, this would not be big enough. The funeral director had to reinforce all the glues with her own biodegradable glue. I haven't used it in the water yet. But it is definitely very pretty.
