Yes this will hold a 3.5x5 photo, but keep in mind it is a 5x7 frame so it is usually for a 5x7 print.

Q: Can this be hung on a wall?

Yes. you would need to add a hook or wire on the back to do so. It will go straight . It just needs something to hang it .

I am going to say no unless you hung it on a wall. It has to balance to stand and has to stand vertical.
