1983 British Fairs Benham Silk Cards with First Day of Issue (Set of 4 Postcards) These cards have a beautiful 'silk' effect image on the top of the card and are cancelled on the First Day of Issue with a special handstamp. Set of 4 Benham Silk Cards with small printed address label on the reverse. The earliest record of fairs in Britain dates from Roman times. The stamps depict a produce fair (31p) as well as the well known fairground rides such as a Helter-skelter, Big Wheel (both on the 20½p) and a Merry-Go-Round (16p).
