Product Description Eilen Jewell burst onto the Boston music scene with her 2005 debut, Boundary Country. Reaction to her music was swift, with many comparing her talents to those of Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch and June Carter Cash. Jewell's heart-achingly hushed style and intimate grasp of roots music have earned her rave reviews, both nationally and abroad. Review "A voice of real distinction [that] manages to transcend some powerful influences and pierce the fog long enough for her own point of view to emerge." -- The Word"Jewell is showing she can wander with the best of them, and write riveting song-stories about her adventures along the way." -- No Depression

A FITTING TRIBUTE
I never really listened to country music in the 60s (far from hip and too "60s Nashville"). What is a revelation is how sassy Loretta Lynn's songs are - no wonder Jack White recorded her (Loretta) in 2004. Eilen Jewell is my current favourite singer (by a country mile). This is the way Nashville should have made music in the 60s. Eilen's exceptional voice together with her superb (regular) band has produced the best tribute to any singer I have ever heard - no wonder Loretta was happy to be pictured on the sleeve.

It's just too short
Absolutely first class playing, singing and delivery from Eilen as usual. The only negative is the run time.A really nice addition to your collection.

Another Jewell!!
Eilen Jewell is a talented artist who has already recorded some great material on her own and with The Sacred Shakers. This album is a tribute to Loretta Lynn and Eilen stamps her own style onto some great songs. Check her albums out if you like country / folk / rock / gospel material.
