Rush - Counterparts - CD Review: I have been missing out on this for 30 Years!? - I used to love RUSH when they first appeared on the scene in the late 70's then they went kind of a bit New Wavy in the late 80's and I lost interest. I am just filling gaps in my music collection and thought I would try a couple of RUSH albums. Boy! am I glad I did! They really went back to some seriously Heavy Prog Rock when they put the keyboards back in the cupboard. Still not so keen in the late 80's output but the later stuff is simply SUPERB! I now have EVERY Studio album and most of the live Videos too, which are Outstanding! Just wish I had not wasted so many years without these now, The Geddy Lee solo My Favourite Headache is equally good too. A bit more straight rock but sounds like Rush cos of Geddy's unmistakable voice. Review: Best rush album of the’90s - And one of their best ever! Loved them for years since late ‘70s but unfortunately only saw them from hold your fire tour onwards. It’s Rush ! The remastered cds are cheap and very cheerful! I haven’t got this on vinyl ..yet 🤦♂️but it’s one of the only ones I haven’t got on vinyl. Even if you don’t know much about rush, it is a very accessible album for the unconverted. Work colleagues loved it back in the day alongside presto🐇🐇

Brilliant!
This is a fantastic album from Rush. They are such a great rock band that are easy to listen too. I purchased several of their remastered CD's in one go!

Rush - Counterparts
This is another good CD Rush. The tracks are well crafted and there is no bad, boring. The entire album is enjoyable, especially the songs "Animate", "Stick It Out", "Cut To The Chase" and "Speed Of Love". The album features the band's brand, but with lightness and excitement. Who likes the band, can not fail to cionhecer this disc. Ok! Very good! Note 8.0.

Leave that Thing alone
this album has the most awesome instrumental in it with the most wickedest bassline ever. It is also the epitome of the straight out rock type stuff they had been leaning towards since Presto, Making it a somewhat basic album However its got some real killer songs on it like nobodies Hero, even though in this day and age the lyrics are a bit cliched and cheesey at the time they wasn't. Animate is one of their best songs from this era its just fantastic. this album is really the most awesome album of this period before the next album and what i feel is another changing period

Great value
Great album by a legendary band, this is a return to the heavier guitar sound that Rush built their early success on. Quick delivery and a good value for money.

Hard & heavy but classic Rush
For me, this is Rush' heaviest work, but there is a high concentration of classic cuts here : 'Animate', 'Stick it out', 'Cut to the chase' & 'Alien shore' are as strong as any of their previous gems & pearls. Three brilliant musicians combine and synergy takes them to another level. Classy & exciting.

Between Sun and Moon
Creeping ever further into the 90s, Rush's follow-up to the radio-friendly Roll the Bones was even more of a departure from the 80s-tinged synth sounds of their previous releases. However it is hardly the alternative nirvana that some make it out to be. As always with any Rush album there are some absolutely awe-inspiring songs and it is still essentially the Rush of Moving Pictures and Fly By Night, as well as of Signals and Hold Your Fire. Tunes and well thought out song structures are foremost in their ethic. While Counterparts does have a lot of good tracks it is the first to really suffer from more less interesting ones since Permanent Waves. 'Animate' is not one of these. It is a slow-burning Rush staple that introduces a chorus that sounds moribund at first but evolves into a tuneful epiphany after a few spins. 'Stick It Out' and 'Cut to the Chase' I can take or leave. This is the sound of Rush almost reverting back to their 70s style of hard, Zeppelin-like rock. It didn't particularly suit them then (apart from the excellent 2112) and it doesn't much now. I have always thought they did better work with gentle melodies that sounded mammoth instead of loud ones that became flaccid. 'Nobody's Hero' is a great little power ballad of sorts. 'Between Sun and Moon' is one of the best tracks. It has the kind of chorus that Rush excel at - one's you cannot see coming. 'Alien Shore' is a good song but no more. It is gentle and unassuming but a little lacking. As is 'The Speed of Love' although the chorus is slightly more catchy I suppose. 'Double Agent' is awesome, possibly the best track here. It has many layers, even a spoken word verse structure that makes Geddy sound remarkably like Alice Cooper (I always believe it is Alice every time I listen - it feels cooler that way). And the chorus afterwards is simply stunning. 'Leave that Thing Alone' is another instrumental too far. They like doing them but I never enjoy them as much as their lyrical output. 'Cold Fire' is the Rush of Hold Your Fire. It's just a good song with a good chorus and refrain. Job done. And 'Everyday Glory' is both uplifting and fun, ending the album with optimism instead of the darkness that everyone seems to think pervades the rest. The darkest thing about this album is possibly the artwork. The songs, as always, are great. Just not as great as albums' past.
