looking to use this as drum mic pre mix to save space on my main board?

There are no mid adjust just high and low, once you get used to it you can make this sound great. For drum mics it would be perfect, just be patient on initial setup and tweaks for different venues are fast

What would be the best way to get a balanced output? Use an XLR combiner cable or? We currently have a balanced TRS output from our old mixer.

This mixer uses XLR for main outputs but also has balanced TRS outputs for control room outs and Aux sends. If you can't solder your own XLR connectors you could buy a couple of these: amazon.com/dp/B000068O4C/

how do you setup your I-phone to play with the speakers and the microphone

i do not have an Iphone...nor do i use my android atm ...i use my laptop's headphone out into 1/4" adapters and use 2 channels...there is also an RCA tape IN on the back...this mixer is non powered, you need an amp or powered speakers...XLR outs for the mains...take a good look at the back of this...once you see it i'm sure it'll be pretty easy to figure out....hope that helps...
