Decent quality for the price
I bought the Ontario 12in machete n didn't realize the sheath was sold separately. So I put in this order n it came in within a few days. It's decently thick so the quality isn't bad. I just think they didn't put much thought into it. They made the fit pretty tight. N if u got the machete it comes with u know it has a serrated back. They made the fit tight so the machete doesn't slide out easily. So pulling it out n putting it back in will eventually do a number on the sheath n u will have to buy another one. They could've made the fit bigger n put on some velcro to secure it would've been better. If this sheath ever does tear up like I think it will, I will be looking for a sheath exactly like I described....

Just What I Needed!
I think it's fantastic for what I got it for. I got Cheaper Than Dirt's 5 Machetes for $20 deal (So cheap machetes, cheap sheath) and there was a nice little 12" blade in the bunch. This sheath fits it PERRRRFECTLY. This is a simple sheath. No insert, just one regular sized belt loop. Nothin fancy. My machete is cheap, so it's not super sharp (Unless I make it) so I have no concern of it slicing through. A sharpened machete might though...but you'd have to take it out and put it in a lot before that would likely happen.

perfect fit
this fits my 12 inch 'organic company' machete perfectly. don't intend to carry it around so not concerned about thingy to hold it in case--but case is a fairly snug fit and wants to stay on anyway. good value and much nicer than cardboard sleeve i had made.

Would like to see this included with machete
This sheath should be included with the 12" machete, not pay separately.

Be warned
The quality of the sheath is not bad for the money. HOWEVER, it is a little unsafe. The sheath does not retain the machete at all and it does not have any sort of strap on it to keep the machete in the sheath. I had been storing the machete in the sheath at the top of my closet. One day I grab it from the closet not realizing that it would come flying out of the sheath. If I had not been paying attention and was able to get out of the way, I would have been hit by the machete in the head, neck or in the leg. Currently I have the lanyard tied to the belt loop to keep the machete from falling out of the sheath.

There's a better option, but all of them are just cheap substitutes for the kydex sheath we don't have time to make
There is another one, BSH, for a few bucks more that appears more durable. I've got both. This one is shiny, and the rivets are all solid. The other has ring rivets, presents a few more tying options. Regardless, if you spend time sharpening the tip of the machete, it will eventually poke through the bottom of that "more durable" one. So if you'd rather save a few bucks, get this one. I've also heard people cut the 18" plastic sheath to size, haven't tried that. I'm "planning" (hoping, dreaming) to get started making a kydex sheath for my $15 machete (!!!). I just used a heavy duty plastic bag (mre wrapper) and some duct tape to make a slip/sheath for cheap coleman folding saw (wicked sharp and wouldn't stay folded closed). Perhaps use a flexible cutting board and some duct tape to make a machete sheath? Money or time, which do you want to spend?
