Casual Home Solid Hardwood Top, Slate Gray, 40" W (373-932) Kitchen Island

I have never done a review before and I'm 64 yrs old :-) lol... I put this together myself due to being a widow. This was the easiest thing to put together and well constructed. The rails on the drawer are even metal, very sturdy and I was impressed at how everything fit together perfectly. I highly recommend this island.

I love this island, very well build. I was pleasantly surprised that this was so easy to put together. It is all wood, no particle board, and was engineered perfectly so that all the parts fit together nicely. I would recommend having a rachet to make the process easier and faster, the allen wrench works but is time consuming.

I wanted a real wood top, and out of the sea of fake wood tables on Amazon, this stood out. I thought it would be perfect as a prep station in my kitchen, but in the end, it was far too wobbly for any type of real work. I took it apart and returned it. That was not a fun process. The wood top is very good for this price point. Solid, good finishing, and not too heavy. Everything else is kind of janky. The legs and grated shelves all seem like cheap, lightweight wood particle board. There is no way those are real wood planks, they are too light and screws drill into them far too easily. The grated shelves have a lot of flex and are flimsy. There is no way I would use those to store anything heavy. The legs and supports could have been designed better. They are not interlocking, everything is held together by connecting two pieces of fake wood with screws. There was significant sway of the table when trying to prepare vegetables on a cutting board. I assume this would get worse with more use. It's also very easy to over tighten screws when putting this together, cracking the paint, wood, or just drilling all of the way through a piece. As many others mentioned, the drawer is hot garbage. Extremely thin, flimsy, and wobbly, and the base seems like a sheet of cardboard covered in paint. It is hard to open smoothly because of its width and design flaws, and the only things you would ever store there are light objects you use rarely. This table would've been so much better if they copied the design of every other random brand on Amazon and slapped this hardwood top onto cheap metal legs and shelves. These brands all do it with manufactured wood, and those tables are rock solid for a good price. But those tops look cheap and scratch easily. Replace those with this top and you have a good table worth buying.

Perfect size for my smaller kitchen in need of additional storage and flat surface. Good quality, sturdy, and not difficult to assemble. A second person would be helpful to hold pieces in place while setting the screws. I found it required some awkward body positioning to get holes aligned and screws set - especially attaching the top. Turning it upside down when attaching the top helped some.

The main structure of the island went together ok. It's not amazing, but you get what you pay for. The drawer however is poorly manufactured trash. The pilot holes on one side were so close to the edge of the board that they were sure to crack, and the entirety of the drawer is just poorly designed crap.
