Princess Mononoke Picture Book

When I went on a Miya-san book purchasing binge from Viz, I wasn't sure how these picture books would relate to the 'Art of' books. Turns out these picture books are just that, re-tellings of the movies using the cell artwork and word balloons where appropriate. The glossy pages and images hold up well and the hardcovers are well manufactured in this batch. These books are suitable to reading to small children as bed time stories, though older readers may appreciate them just as much. They are complimentary to the 'Art of' books, but not replacements. Princess Mononoke was always for slightly older viewers and may need some further explanation than something more innocent and tamer like Ponyo or Totoro. Still very recommended.

Overview: This art book is based on the Anime Movie "Princess Mononoke". It depicts scenes from the movie and has a story board feel as it progresses through the various scenes of the movie. My eight year old loves this book and sometimes prefers it to watching the movie. It is beautiful artwork and good quality.Pros: - Great Artwork - Constructed with a durable cover and thick paper. Not flimsy at all. - Great for kids who love to look at art, or who love visual stimulation.Cons: - There are a few pages where the animals or characters have blood on them. If you have seen the movie, you will understand. But if you, or your children, take issue with depictions of blood, you may want to reconsider purchasing this art book.

Have gotten all the studio Ghibli picture books to go along with a themed nursery and they're all wonderful! The pictures are taken straight from the movies so don't expect anything more artwise but if you're a big fan then they're great to have and go well with the movies.

Great picture book adaptation of the classic Hayao Miyazaki film, Princess Mononoke.Easy to understand text, with no real issues in translation; as far as I could see and read.Nice amount of pictures from the film. None of which felt out of place.The book is sizable, but not too big where it feels uncomfortable, nor to small that the contents feel squished together or hard to read and look at.Though to make note of something. The product details state Book 1. Which I admit had me curious if this was 1 of 2 volumes like the Japanese version, or one whole book containing the entire story of the film. Well if anyone else is curious about that, as well thinking that they may have to wait for a 2nd book before investing in the first, just so you can get the entire story. Then I'm proud to report that this is not an issue, as this book is the entire story of the film.Overall a good book for the young and young at heart; or just those who love Miyazaki films. Either way you won't be disappointed with this.

A hardcover and very durable book. There are many pictures and the entire story is basically written down into storybook format. I was pleased with the purchase and recommend getting this for a gift or for your collection.

Product is amazing. The art is beautiful but unfortunately my book came damaged and the cover is ruined.

It is good quality book but probably stored for quite some time that the cover got dirty and wrinkled but the inside is okay. Very good printing quality. So overall happy with it.
