It flashes......sometimes
I don't ask much. I expect a timing gun to flash EVERY SINGLE TIME the spark plug fires. This thing flashes a few times and then stops a few times. This obviously has something to do with the sensitivity of the pickup clamp. The gun might be good, I don't know, but if it's attached to a piece of garbage pickup clamp, I won't know. I was not able to get the job done with this. I'd probably pay $20 - $50 more for this gun if they gave a good pickup clamp, assuming the gun is good.I've noticed that the cheap red pickup clamp is the same one used on many other cheap timing guns and after reading reviews from them, I hear anything from intermittent flashes (like I had), to it worked for 5 minutes, to not flashing at all. There are just too many of them. The pickup clamp is the most important part on a timing gun and must be very sensitive and durable or you're going to have problems. My suggestion to anyone looking for a timing gun, make sure it doesn't have this stupid cheap red pickup on it or you're just going to waste your time and patience.I ordered a more expensive timing light and will make a recommendation if I find it worthy of one. A more expensive better made timing light is actually cheaper than buying one like this. The time you waste trying to get a cheap intermittent item to work is time wasted. I value my time and so should you. Get something that has a solid pickup clamp, preferably made of metal, like they all used to be made of. It's worth the higher cost.

Absolute junk
Purchased this for my 78 trans am. I have now thrown it out as the it is junk. The light is erratic the advance adjustment doesn’t work. And the rpm shows 3300 while while it is sitting there idiling but shows 750 on my tach. I went and purchased another Basic timing light at half the price and that one works perfectly. Don’t waste your time and money

Excellent tool!
The timing light works perfectly. Good tool for the money! Used it to check the timing of the V Star 650. The tool also shows the RPM, which is nice.

Not very good
This timing light shows RPM. Too bad it is no where near accurate. If the RPM is not accurate, how accurate is the timing feature? This is not a good purchase. Spend the extra and get a good brand. OTC, Snap On, Matco, or even Craftsman.

Broke after one use
I think I just got a defective unit. It worked the first time but the strobe light wouldn't light up in several subsequent attempts. RPM meter continued to work however. Returned for refund.
