A well made, thoughtfully designed sourdough kit. A perfect treat to myself that’s an upgrade from my plastic take out container I was using. All the features are functional, from the dual lid/base, breathable cover, markings on the glass, a groove for the temperature strip, the timing band, and the spatula. The glass container is sturdy too and they had good packaging to secure the vessel too.

This is fantastic in every way. I bought it for my daughter, but after playing around with it with her I wanted it too. If you’re not using it you can seal it with the rubber lid that hangs out on the bottom until you need it, it comes with a breathable cloth cover with elastic in it, a plastic stirrer and scraper tool so there’s no metal touching the starter, graduated measurements up the side, a rubber band (red) to measure the starter height, and a simple way to use it to track days. Fantastic. And there’s a temperature gauge as well, although you have to stick it on the glass yourself. The glass is molded so you know right where to stick it on. Also, the edges go straight up instead of coming inwards as it does on a lot of pint jars, so it is super easy to work with and feed the starter. I looked at several, and this one is clearly more complete for helping beginning sourdough makers organize the many little yet important details of growing the starter. A great win.

The perfect kit to get me started with sourdough bread making. The size makes it easy to make up and then regularly feed sourdough starter. The mouth is wide enough to add ingredients and stir them up. I like the solid feel of a substantial glass container.

As a first-time sourdough baker wannabe, I think I read every review of every starter kit on Amazon. I chose this one because of the great reviews, the size of the jar, the temperature gauge and the two types of lids. The jar is heavy and seems to be good quality. It has the tare weight printed on the bottom/side of jar in case you forget to tare it out prior to using. My starter is doing well in this jar. I use the cloth lid when I have it on the counter, and the silicon lid when I want to keep it in the fridge.i also like the little elastic you can use mark the level as well as the date/time of last feeding. All good stuff for a newbie to sourdough baking. Two thumbs up.

The jars, lids and covers are great! The spatula is terrible. The part where you can hang the spatula with the hole ended up breaking and tearing exposing the metal core. The metal core of the spatula does not go through the entire handle. If you get this kit or the single kit, throw the spatula in the garbage and get a wooden teak spatula instead. You'll thank me later.

I absolutely love this sourdough starter kit! It’s super beginner-friendly but also great for more experienced bakers. When first viewing this jar online I wasn't sure how the temperature plate worked. As my photo shows, the 'leaves' turn a different color indicating your house temp, and helpful to guesstimate rising time of fed starter. The temp plate is actually a sticker which strongly adheres to the glass jar. You adhere the temp sticker yourself. Jar must be hand washed due to that sticker. The black stretchable band is great to keep track of date & time of last feeding. It is marked for Sun-Sat and 6 AM-12-6 PM with shorter vertical lines for unmarked 3 AM-9 AM-3PM-9PM (as seen in same photo). The jar is thick glass making it durable. Comes with a silicone cover that doubles as a bottom gripper besides being the cover for refrigeration. There is also a hand washable stretchable cloth top cover for when your starter is rising in a warm area. And a sturdy, stiff rubber spatula. No recipes were included. This item is very well made and a good value for your money. If it ever broke I would replace it, but I don't see breakage happening. Only disappointment was that it was shipped only in it's original container, not in another box for protection. It was delivered with a sizable gash in one side; however nothing was lost, and glass jar was intact as the top & bottom of jar was packed in sturdy foam. This is the first time ever that Amazon did not ship an item inside another protective box. Perhaps due to XMAS rush or pending strike? I'm new to the sourdough world and was using a canning jar with masking tape and/or a rubber band to mark the starter's level. I'm also an infrequent baker (gotta watch those carbs) and at times I couldn't remember last feeding. So I really like this jar. I'm just a regular customer giving an honest, unsolicited & uncompensated review. I do recommend this productm

The size is perfect. I have tried other brands where the container is smaller and the started ended up going over the jar and making a mess. I have had fabulous results with this.

A lovely and spacious glass jar- perfectly suited to house your sourdough starter. This kit includes a nice elastic to mark the height of your starter and two lids (one for the fridge and one for the counter). The temperature gauge is a nice addition to help ensure you are on track and the shape of the glass jar makes it easy to clean dried on starter.
