Great if one configures no automouting of internal KVM drive
CONS:1) With macOS, when two devices are USB-C connected to the KVM, the KVM automatically mounts an internal drive to install a utility. However, if you switch between devices via the KVM, you will get notify spammed about how a drive was not ejected properly. As a workaround, I stopped automounting of the internal drive by editing /etc/fstab entries via terminal:sudo vifsone would add the following entries:LABEL=MacKMLink none cd9660 ro,noautoUUID=XXX none msdos ro,noautoReplace XXX above with the full UUID of the KVM found from:diskutil info Untitled2) For Windows 11, it kept mounting/unmounting the KVM drive when using Steam once every few seconds, interferring with gaming and overall usage of Windows. Hence, I would also need to configure no automounting in Windows (yet to do).3) One has to press the KVM button twice to fully switch from one host to the other. While I found this annoying, this alone is not enough to push me to return the device. Otherwise, it only switches one of the monitors.4) I prefer where there is no internal drive for a utility. If I wanted to install it, I could optionally download it from VisionTek's website, and/or separate USB flash drive provided in box.PROS:1) VisionTek quickly approved my warranty registration with a submitted Amazon invoice. I read other comments about how they had trouble getting this approval. Not sure why as the approval turnaround was a couple business days. Same quick approval with another item I've purchased from VisionTek.2) I like VisionTek, have purchased a graphics card from them, and received outstanding support from them in the past.3) I like how both devices can be powered via the USB-C cable, regardless of which one is primary, KVM supports 4K, and supports 3 external monitors. These were the deciding factors I choose this KVM over all other USB-C KVMs being sold, or buying a standard one device USB-C docking station.

Waste of money, And my work laptop security thinks the embedded software is malware
If you have ever used KVM switches before, this will be a disappointment. But at the moment, it was the "least bad" UCB-C/Thunderbolt switch option I could find. The plan was to use it like a KVM for my work Dell Precision 5570 and my personal Dell Precision 5680 laptops at my cabin. I use them at my home with a conventional KVM switch, but the cabin is small and so they just need to share a monitor, keyboard & mouse. Basically it does not work with them without a lot of glitches as well as huge latency. If I was not past the return window, I would get a refund.Three huge design deficiencies are (1) The toggle switch is not remote so you have to place the unit where you can reach it, (2) no visual indicator as to which input is selected and (3) their software that they try to force on one is awful, clearly written by someone who never thought anyones work computer would require a VPN. My employer's Palo Alto security identifies it at malware. It's a wonder why it's not banned on Amazon.VisionTek's support for this product is non-existent. Even the download for the manual does not work on the product page, and if you go to the support area, it does not recognize VT4950 as one of their products.Update May 18, 2024What did work very well and was a lot less expensive was this "USB C Switch 2 in 1 Out or 1 in 2 Out" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CXDWL3ZY) coupled with this small UtechSmart USB C Hub (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2ZS1B5/) using a Female-to-Female 40Gbps USB C Coupler (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8N74XM7). I only need one monitor, so this worked even though the switch instructions discourage hanging a hub on it.

Perfect Solution but Requires Drivers to Work
This is the perfect solution for what I needed: connect and charge two laptops that I can switch between. Unfortunately both computers, which are company provided, needed drivers to work correctly. One company was willing to install and update the drivers whereas the other would not. Without the drivers it would not even display the computer on the monitors or recognize the USB connections. I would definitely be using this if drivers weren't required. In my case I had to send it back.

Like the product but annoying and headache
I have:2 Dell 32" 4K monitors2 Dell Laptops Precision 5530 Precision 7680 CTThe good things I can say about this device:Resolution was good on both monitors (4K)Sound on both laptop was goodEthernet port was OK, no real problemsWireless mouse and keyboard workedThe cool thing about this device is you can display each laptop on each monitor. Push the switch once and you will see 1st laptop on 1 monitor and the 2nd laptop on the second monitor, but it was still annoying. Now getting to the headache and annoying.1. Interferes with my work VPN2. I have to push the switch several times to get from one laptop to the other and that was confusing and annoying because the Virtual folder would popup, every time you use the switch3. The screen blacks out and freezes *When I switched the device off and on the screen was still frozen4. When I plugged in my external drive and switched between the laptops there are about 4/5 windows popup indicating my drive was scanned, every time5. When I turn off the device after it screen freeze, it was buzzing loud. The buzz comes from the speaker wire plugged in. When I unplug the speaker wire, it went off.6. The MAC KM Link Engine keeps asking permission when I already gave it permission.7. Hot Key doesn't work8. Wireless mouse & keyboard was annoyingMy recommendation is no on this device. All this is in the first 48 hours and it did not work as smoothly. I'm returning this device.

Step up from the VisionTek 4900 dock! Even more performance.
I've had a few VisionTek Docks since I have worked from home for the last 18 years. The last being the VT4900 (5 years ago) which seems to be the predecessor to this Dual System KVM dock. I haven't seen many competitors making docks like this so I went back to Visiontek. Just so everyone understands, this dock works with two systems, usually laptops from what I've seen, and it provides 100watts of power to each system. So you get a super clean set up and functionality. Its just a button/hotkey to swap between systems and I can do personal stuff on my laptop (Dell) and work on my employer given laptop (Lenovo, so no issue with diff brands) simultaneously. Pay bills, look at YouTube then back to work with a click of a key! It's a single USB C connection and I have 3 x 32" LG's connected to it, achieving the highest 4k resolution. Super easy to set up, didn't even need to download drivers this go round. My high schooler even connects and does some of his art and designed stuff with the set up so he can drag and drop across the 3 screen... he loves it. So I'd say that it can be slightly higher priced but for what you get, but its worth it. Definitely maximizes performance as VisionTek claims. Thumbs up!
