It looked much nicer than I thought it would and I added a clip-on lamp to display the art I purchased and it worked out fantastically!

Quality Control Lacking
This is a pretty good display easel...fairly sturdy and good looking for the price. However, it requires assembly and while the directions were easy to follow, the materials were difficult to work with. Holes were not drilled all the way and did not line up correctly. Also, the hooks for the chain to attached the back leg of the easel broke when you tried to screw them into the very hard compressed "wood" of the easel slats. We got it done but not without some ingenuity.

Looks nice, but takes a lot of effort!
I got two of these easels for my wedding. The instructions are not easy to follow, and there is no hole for the hook and chain to be attached. As one reviewer noted, it takes a lot of ingenuity to put this thing together, and I don't know if it will last honestly. Also one of the poles them came broken in two! Luckily my fiance was able to glue it and paint the edges black. Looks nice for now and I hope it holds up for the wedding. I guess you get what you pay for with this one.

Poorly made and unusable as delivered.
If you are looking for an affordable, quality wooden easel, this is not it! The tripod legs are multiple pieces of wood end-spliced together and are not straight. The peg holes where the artwork sits on the pegs were not equally spaced side to side; therefore, the picture we need to display sat noticeably leaning to one side, to the point of sliding off. The chain that holds the back leg during extension failed on first use.Because we need to use this for an event in just a few days, we elected to replace the chain and re-drill the peg holes so that our picture will sit straight through the service it was purchased for. After our repairs, this easel will meet our immediate need, however, it is definitely not worth its cost.

The Instructions and the Components don't match
The item seems nice and sturdy enough but there are no holes for the chain hooks.Assembly was easy enough up until this point but I am not certain what to do since I cannot actually install the chain without a drill.

Poor manufacturing and quality control
Poorly made in China... what can I say. Instructions say to twist the artwork holder pegs to hold them tight in the uprights, but the pegs are all too narrow and sloppy loose. You have to wrap tape around the pegs to get them to not fall out easily. I have purchased over 15 of these and they are all the same. Also, several of mine came with a spreader chain that did not fit the eye hooks. Had to go out and buy chain at Lowes. Sad, because these easels have an overall classy look to them and work okay once you fix all the flaws.. I don't know where else to find a similar quality made item.
