These are super sensitive so they are tricky to set and the back piece is a bit of a struggle to slide in and out but it's nothing you can't manage. Just place them where you want them first and gently set the trap without bumping it so it doesn't trip. They work very well and no mice have been injured so far! I'm entertained by how different each unwanted house guest is when they find themselves in this little predicament. Some are frozen in fear with little beady eyes popping out. Some are frantically squeaking for help (not realizing they are only alerting the death squad aka cats.) But many are totally unbothered. I found one happily eating its last free meal (a pecan with peanut butter on it, I'm a gracious host) and when I picked it up to carry it out, it stopped, looked at me for a second, then went back to munching. Very bored and unimpressed... Probably a teenager. PLEASE check these multiple times a day. There's no point if the mouse dies waiting for you to "humanely" get around to releasing it, and you do NOT want to find a stinky trap full of mouse poo. And make sure you have a relatively safe place to release it. Ours go to a remote dump where they enough food and housing to remain. Maybe they would occasionally go to our neighbors from hell, who conveniently live in filth and don't have cats, if I would do such a thing which for legal reasons I would not........ **CLEANING TIPS** Some people have said they throw the traps out rather than clean and reuse and I'm judging y'all so hard right now. That's ridiculous. I cut up a paper bag and use pieces to line the bottom. Takes a couple minutes and eliminates difficult cleanup. Toss liner. Give it a rinse. You don't need to scrub. Put it in the top rack of the dishwasher (open end facing down.) Does the manufacturer recommend this? Nope, but I can assure you it works... And if you're going to TOSS IT anyway then why not try? If you don't have a dishwasher... You're probably not the type to throw things out instead of cleaning them anyway 😂 You can use the included sponge or a bottle cleaning sponge and if the odor seems to linger, give it a bath in diluted bleach. But, if you can just monitor the traps and cover the bottom they will never get bad anyway. 🪤🐁 At the end of the day pat yourself on the back for the extra effort to not be subhuman. All other methods of rodent control are various shades of cruel. (Even my cats aren't as cruel as sticky traps...) If being more intelligent means humans have more of a right to exist in their space, then surely there's no excuse to not use our human gifts to control pests without making them suffer.

My mouse/chipmunk sized Havahart trap had been tripped on multiple nights but had not caught a single mouse. When these traps arrived we baited them as instructed and placed them around the garage overnight. First thing in the morning we found that 3 of the 4 traps had a deer mouse inside. All were unharmed (nobody got their tail snapped in the door), albeit stressed. As I drove the mice to a nearby park to release them I could hear them gnawing at the plastic trying to escape, but they couldn't get a grip anywhere--these are escape proof! I do recommend practicing opening/closing the doors until you're comfortable before leaving baited traps out. It's not difficult, but takes a little getting used to. When there is a terrified mouse inside a trap you'll want to be able to quickly and easily slide the door up. My only critique is that these aren't the easiest to clean. Expect them to be full of little mouse poops which just rinsing in hot soapy water will wash into the springs and other hard-to-reach areas. I suggest letting them soak in very hot water before cleaning and having a small tool like an old paintbrush or something on hand that can reach places you can't. I actually blasted them with the hose a few times which got the worst of the mess out. Overall, this is a great product. We'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks!

I live in a 133-year-old house. There are some holes. We have found most but not all of them, apparently. I used the square metal traps last year when we had some little visitors, but apparently they are only good for a single use because they were just randomly broken this year. Mice came to visit and they were just running in and out of the traps, thanking me for the Scooby snacks by pooping all over my floor. Next day my mom brought over brand new metal trap, which I set out that night. The next morning there were two in there. I drove them a few miles up the road and dropped them off in a field with some woods and an old barn, then came back, cleaned out the trap and put back out. Well, unbeknownst to me that brand new metal trap had broken after a single use just like all the rest and so I woke up to another mouse poop extravaganza in my laundry room, all around the trap (we use dog food kibble). I looked for an alternative, found these, read all the great reviews and decided to try them instead. My only complaint is that they will go off if you breathe on them, which is both handy and an inconvenience because I feel like I constantly have to check them to make sure they are open. On the other hand, they are highly effective and within 4 hours of putting one down I had caught another one. I drove it down to where I let the other ones go yesterday. I hope they find each other lol... Anyway, I will be using these from now on. Other than the hair trigger response, they are a lot easier to deal with. I was worried the mouse would go running up my arm or something when I opened the tube but he stayed at the other end and once I had it open I just set it on the ground and backed up for a second and he was gone. Then I dumped out the remaining few pieces of dog kibble that fat little beast hadn't gotten to yet. I mean, new place and all, might as well leave him at least one meal. If I didn't care I wouldn't be using a humane trap, right? Actually, I do have one other small beef but it's literally nothing - I'm not sure if it was condensation or whether that one mouse managed to pee all over the entire tube in the thirty minutes or so he was in that tube, but the whole inside was... Damp. I washed it out in the tub because it just seems too gross a job to do in a sink.

First of all. I do not recommend these to anyone that has any type of disability. Also do not recommend if you have anger issues. These traps work great the first 2-3 times. After that it’s just a mental breakdown waiting to happen. It says shove up the bottom. It’s not a stick of deodorant. It says squeeze the sides. Yeah NO!!! I ended up throwing them on the ground and Broke them to smithereens. Never to be used again. I’ll go back to the old spring trap method.

Nice little cheap traps, works well. I like that the bait holder on the side is easy to fill with some treats, but doesn't let them get to it to eat it all away. First attempt, the little guy was a bit too quick, and only triggered it, but probably backed out, but we got them the second time. This one had eluded my other traps, so I'm not holding that against this trap. I'd give it 5 stars if it was a bit longer, to prevent that issue, and if the bait area was a little easier to get into, not that I had issues, but I could see folks with limited grip strength potentially having some trouble with it.

Effectively did the job. No more toxic baits, no dealing with dealing with dead rodents. This is likely the best option for catch and release (far from home). Got parents day 1, days 3 and 4 captured 4 babies. Tips: place against a wall, the little spring loaded door is sensitive— if it pops when placing on floor, pick up, tilt so trap door side faces towards floor- gently shake (plastic will move into place) and gently reset the door. When you are ready to release an occupant from jail— Use a carabiner to release the door. Mouse size Worth every penny

We periodically get the little field mice popping into the house over the winter. And I am not about using torturous, cruel glue traps or poisons that might allow some other anmial to eat it and then die. These traps are sufficiently long enough for mice, even smaller rats. The bait contaner part slides on and off, you put your treats inside and then slide back in. The spring loaded closure design is extremely effective as well, yet sensitive enough to go off at the slightest touch. I caught about 5 mice - and put them in an aquarium and released them in the spring in the woods. These were a great value since they are usable for as long as they will last.

If you have 1 to 8 mice this will work great you just have to check daily daily We have caught upwards of 30 mice in the months we had them (and 4 other traps) BUT now the springs have quit springing and the doors aren't closing and I know we have an infestation (mobile home next to large creek that was empty for over a month during the fall transition) but it really seems they should last longer than a few months

When we found several mounds of dirt dug up in our backyard over two days we knew the mice had moved in and I needed to go to war. I'm up to eight of these traps, nine of the rectangular metal ones (with a plastic window in the top) and two of the clear plastic ones with a green door. So far, these have been the most effective with seven mice caught in just under two months. I've caught nine in the silver traps, which are also great, but about double the price of these. Only complaints are small. Putting any bait inside is hard as the weight on the lever is sensitive and makes setting the trap either really difficult or impossible. Without bait, the traps are easy to set. They aren't the easiest to clear as the trap door always flips up and putting your hands in dirty mouse water is...problematic. Lastly, the door at the end that holds the bait is more difficult to open and close then it should be. It slides up and is a very tight fit. However they are relatively cheap, work very well and are mostly easy to use. Definitely recommend. A few tips. One, if you want to keep the mouse alive, check at least two times a day. They die..quickly in these "live" traps. Second, I've tried peanut butter wrapped in wax paper, grapes, marshmallow, processed cheese and hard old cheddar and recommend the hard old cheddar. Peanut butter works awesome in the snap traps we have in the garage, but is too messy in these, if you don't encase it, and likely doesn't "smell" enough if you do. Grapes and marshmallows were useless. Processed works but we usually don't have any and hard cheddar works very well, and slides in and out of the bait container fairly well.

These work exactly as described. I had a mouse in my house and I put some peanut butter in the bait end, set the trap and two days later, the mouse was sitting quietly in the trap. I took him about a mile away and released him. Super easy to setup and easy to clean. Excellent humane trap.

I like these so much I bought more for myself and the neighbours. I was going to buy more at the original $25 but now I won't at the current price. I thought the $25 was a bit high then but they do work. But not forever, there is a little spring that rusts out and will slide sideways and stop working. Plus cleaning them is a gross chore. Out in the country the mice will get into your vehicles and the house so setting these around inside and out work as good—if not better than the older style traps. I hate the glue traps because (although they work) it is really difficult to listen to the poor little vermin struggle. In this trap they don't fight so much. I had one that sat there contented to eat the food (I use dry dog food and they love it) Moles don't seem to survive though. They get panicked and end up jamming themselves under the trap flap. Even if you check them every day some will not make it to the next day. This sometimes ruins the trap spring making it unusable again. If they came with spare springs I'd give it a five star at the $25 price point.

After trying several different traps and repellents, this was the only one that worked in a very clean and human way. And relatively fast. Easy to set it up too.

One would think if you have 2 cats in the house, that mice would not be an issue. However, mine chose to pick them up and play with them. Put a little peanut butter at the end, they walk in, and the door closes. I love that you can just toss them outside and release. The wooden spring traps scare the %#^^ out of me trying to set them up and not jam my own finger. Caught both within 6 hours with these traps!
