Strongly suggest buying an IE-2000 or above instead of the IE-1000
Hardware build quality is good. This is a very heavy, sturdy, and quiet switch, and it may be good if you just want to install something in a harsh environment and forget it.Feature set is the worst I have ever seen from Cisco. CLI is read only. You can't even use the backspace command to change what you are typing. You can't write "show interface status" or "show ip interface brief" can't check CDP neighbors, and it doesn't send CDP so neighbor switches can't see it without enabling LLDP. There is no console port. You can't have more than one VLAN for management at once, so it's impossible to change management VLANs without going on site, or having multiple uplink ports. You can't add interface descriptions. Can't change the hostname without using a wizard through the GUI. It runs CST instead of Per-VLAN Rapid STP.The IE-2000 and IE-3000 in this series are good. They have all the Catalyst features, plus layer 3 capabilities (extra license cost) and native support for industrial protocols, and the IE-4000 which has those plus local compute for fog computing. If you have the space on your DIN rails for them, I think they are a much better option.
