I bought them as a gift for someone, so I can't check them but I don't believe they were made in China--

Yes, these are dishwasher and microwave safe

do these work for hot liquids? such as coffee?

I think so. I haven’t used them for hot coffee, but I have used them to scoop boiling hot water out of pasta to reserve for making pasta sauce and had no issues.
