I used this to repair some soffit vents around the house and garage, the existing mesh had holes in and provided a nice home for all sorts of small wildlife, not an ideal scenario that! The old mesh was fitted from inside the hole and without taking off the guttering and whole soffit it would not have been possible to fit it on the inside so I opted for fitting on the outside. I first tried glue but glue+mesh=gooey mess so i abandoned that idea and instead used a staple gun to fix them to the soffit. Might not be the prettiest solution but its not very visible unless you deliberately look up there. The mesh appears to be long lasting and is easily cut using scissors to the size required. I still have enough left over to do again should they need doing. Or donate to my neighbour who has the same issue.
