Now UFLI Aligned and Listed on the UFLI Decodable Text Guide The Short Vowel Beginning Reader Set is perfect for children who know their letter sounds and have the stamina to begin decoding or "sounding out" longer books than those found in the Charge into Reading Beginning Letters Short Vowel Decodable Reader Set . Each book in the set focuses on a single short vowel sound, building reading confidence one sound at a time and preparing readers to begin mixing short vowel sounds in the CVC Words Decodable Reader Set . Compelling storylines paired with a strict Scope and Sequence make for a series that children won't just be ABLE to read, but that they will actually WANT to read. Five short-vowel-specific decodable books with a true beginning, middle, and end that a beginning reader can ACTUALLY read Pat Had a Hat: Short A Ten Hens: Short E Swim, Tim: Short I Hop, Frog: Short O Run, Pug: Short U Simple sentences: The bugs run in the sun. Jen fell in the pen. Sid flips his fins. Only 5 sight (high-frequency) words: a, oh, the, to, was 73 unique short vowel words 8 pages of short-vowel-specific literacy activities per book enable parents or small groups to transition seamlessly from reading to practicing literacy skills. Please note: CVC words that focus on a single vowel sound alone cannot create a quality 14-page story that is challenging enough for a child who already knows their letter sounds and is ready to begin decoding longer, more complex books. For this reason, our short vowel decodable readers contain a select few consonant blends and digraphs that adhere to the select vowel sound. This is the only set where such an exception is made to future spelling patterns. Written by best-selling childrenโs book author Brooke Vitale, every book in the Charge into Reading series is fully vetted by LETRS, Top Ten Tools, and Orton-Gillingham-trained reading specialist and executive function coach Marisa Ware, MSEd. Review: Great Readers - After using the Bob books for years in my Prek and Kindergarten classroom we finally found an upgrade! An upgrade I didnโt know we needed! Now as a homeschool mom and a reading tutor, my students are finding these new decodable readers so fun and engaging. Before you get started reading, you have a list of all the words in the book, plus high frequency words so you can review them before reading. The pictures are colorful and rich and the text is a great repetition of words. The best part is the fun phonemic awareness activities at the end of each story. Youโre really getting a whole lesson in one book. I love how the author/ creator of these series broke up each set. That is something I did not have with the Bob books. In set one you have all the short vowel sounds. So you have a book to follow up each lesson. I highly recommend this series of readers! Itโs such a wonderful upgrade to any classroom, homeschool or family library!

Great books for little ones
I have 3 six year olds and they lived these books. Perfect for them to practice reading and deciphering. They are all on different levels and this is challenging enough for them but also helps them build their reading confidence.

Best Phonics Readers/Great graphics
I have homeschooled my children for over 18 years. My last child has down syndrome and is non verbal. I wanted to get her used to using her Proloquo2go to read stories and also to help her learn short cvc words. I can tell you that the stories are perfect in length. The catch my daughters attention and the graphics are great. Here is the important thing! When teaching phonics you need to hear the words over and over again. There is just the right amount of times these cvc words are repeated in the stories. This will allow my daughter to learn the words better because of the amount of times they are repeated. She has to hit the button in Proloquo2go as I read the story to her. I can ask her who was the girl or boy in the story and about the story using the books as well. Non verbal children and children who can speak will love learning from these books. Mom's will not fall alseep reading these readers either! The Charge Into Reading Decodable Readers short vowel readers a,e,i,o, and u are just the right length in the story so you don't loose the childs attention. My daughter is 20 years old and the graphics in these books are perfect for special needs children and adults can learn to read from them too! They are well thought out and in the front of the books are the list of the words you will be reading in the books. You can make flash cards and have the children match the words with the story in the books. They can point to the words in the books as you ask questions and so you also build literacy as well as learning to read. The two go hand in hand! words in the stories are also the right size for young readers. Love these readers and will get more in the future! Enjoy them they are well worth the buying!

Cute little set, price seems reasonable @ $13.48.
Cute 5-book-set! Nice, simple illustrations that are easy to understand depictions to go along with the words - not too much nor too little. Very minimal wording per page. These are stage 1 "short vowel sounds" and looking at the level just under and above this one, they look like tongue twisters. This set seems much more easy to read without the tongue twisters and probably more so because the vowel sounds are emphasized by having several words in these short sentences with matching vowel sounds. Looking back over those now, I'm glad I picked this set! I would recommend for those who are just learning to read, even if they can't yet, or who are sounding out letters but not quite reading. Even for those who can read a few words, I think this would be great to build confidence! Reasonable price for 5 @ $13.48.

Perfect for kids who already know the letter sounds
I started with hooked on phonics. I ordered these to expand the library of books she can read herself. I canceled hooked on phonics almost immediately. These books capture her attention and keep her reading & they're much cheaper. I'll be ordering stage B shortly. I love how they break it up into small sections like Beginning reading, vowel sounds & consonant blends. Hooked on phonics was a great start but it moves slowly. My grandaughter was getting bored so I ordered these to keep her interested. 2nd grandaughter just came in Nov. I'll do the same thing. Basics with hooked on phonics & then move on. Adults can tell when they're little ones have gotten it. Then its time to move on to bigger challenges & these books are the perfect next step so they don't get bored. In short I'll keep using the other sets as she advances. If I were a better teacher, we might not have needed hooked on phonics at all but these are great. Teaching little ones is an art form & it skipped me.

Great resource
I bought Stage 1 for my daughter who is in preschool. Pictures and stories are clear and well thought out. I love the activities at the end of the story, feels like kids get a full lesson in one book. I am so happy to have found these books and will be purchasing the next stages.

Beautiful Decodables
I have purchased the first 5 stages of these decodable texts and my students love them! Each stage is carefully sequenced so children can practise their phonics skills. There are five books in Stage 1 and each text focuses on one short vowel sound. Most of the words are consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC). As a reading intervention teacher, I love the font used in these books - the letters (and words) are nicely spaced which is always helpful for beginning readers. These books are also the perfect size for little hands (15cm x 15cm). Highly recommended!

A must have.
This is truly a great set to have. I love that the fonts are of good size and the book size is perfect for little hands. Kudos to the illustrator for lovely images. If only there can be ten sets of books in each stage. I purchased Stage 1 to 3 and planning to get all the other stages very shortly.
