Got my third one today. These are GREAT!! I have tried every bird feeder known to man in the World. None do what these do. These give birds of all sizes a steady platform to stand on but catch all spilled, dropped or kicked excess seed from dropping to the ground. No mess on ground below. Saves your seeds, no mess on the ground and easy fill up and cleaning of feeders. They work great. I have replaced all my old feeders for this kind. I have two hanging in trees and one hanging off my fence. (I take mine down at night but you don't have to). These are expensive but exceptionally well designed feeders that provide a steady feeding platform for small birds as well as big ones without the dropped seed waste below on the ground. Take a look at photo #1. That is following 1 day of feeding. The seeds in the circular base are the seeds that would have normally fallen to the ground with other feeders. That is a ton of potentially wasted seed, and explains why sunflowers use to sprout up through my lawn turf, but also who wants to make their home attractive to rats with a seed buffet on the ground. This feeder captures 100% of that wasted seed and allows one to recycle it back to the birds. I just completed my third purchase which will replace all my old feeders. The birds love them too. We are getting Finches, sparrows, Woodpeckers, Jays, Robins, Cardinals, black birds, morning doves and just this morning, a small flock of migrating woodland ducks that swooped in for a quick snack on their long journey. These are very easy to refill and clean too. Feeders are well made with quality materials. We rate A++!

I have been using this since last fall and the birds are loving it. I love it because it catches all the droppings of odd seeds in the base which I reuse. I have a seed catcher hanging from the bottom of this feeder and that helps keep seed off the ground. The seed flows smoothly unless it has a lot of corn kernels then it gets jammed. It has made it through the winter of Michigan and still looks new. Easy to refill, and I look forward to watching the birds eat for years to come. Even woodpeckers and cardnals!

When I took this bird feeder out of the box, I was immediately impressed with its design; but once I used it, I ordered a second one. I have tried many bird feeders in the past, but they resulted in seed spillage on the ground under the feeder. Not only a mess, but bad for my dogs. The design of this feeder allows the seed to fall into an easily removed tray and be put back into the feeder. No waste! Its cover lifts off with no hassle, and the divided see-through funnel is easy to fill.One warning: Without a dome above it, it can be freely accessed by squirrels. (See photo.)

last summer we had several regular feeders around the yard....THEN the rats emerged and would feast on all the seed that dropped.so among other things we took down all the feeders. when I found this feeder I thought we'd give it a try.I have it hanging on a pole with one of those anti-squirrel baffles underneath the feeder.It catched a lot of bird seed that would ordinarily fall to the ground. BUT JUST IN CASE...I put a tarp on the ground underneath it. it catches a few kernels of bird food ---- we might be able to live with that. we'll see.BUT....it would be great if they offered an additional tray of some sort that would fit underneat the feeder that would catch the random pieces of seed that go flying. I'm thinking about making my own tray, but my wife will object if it looks stupid and she'll than toss it all in the trash. i walk a tightrope here!

Good idea because the detachable bottom tray does catch the seed shells and keep them off of the grass BUT this needs to be made of metal or squirrel/chipmunk-proof plastic. The little critters quickly chewed away most of the bottom screen. Good concept, not-so-good materials.

Squirrels ate through the bottom in less that 2 weeks. The design is good p, but the materials are not up to the job.

Very helpful. Keeps the critters away and the mess off the ground. A lot of good seed comes to the bottom to discard but I can put it back in the container. A small problem to have as I do like this feeder.

The media could not be loaded. Was thrilled when I received. Looks great concept of it was just what I was looking for.. liked it so much bought another on . Squirrel proof. WRONG Squirrel just gets on it no problem lays on it and eats. Also the bottom should lock. It came off and everything went on the groundNow the squirrels have chewed food holders and food just falls into the bottom
